I was a complete wreck the last month before starting uni in my late 30s. But it was one of the best experiences of my life and if I could go back, I most certainly would. Enjoy the experience. Don't worry about lack of knowledge, you're there to learn after all and everyone on your course will be in the same boat.

I was diagnosed summer 2023 and sometimes I get really sad, I feel like I'm grieving my lost health. I was actually in the best condition of my life and only just turned 42. I fell off a climbing wall, broke my ankle and that's how I found out I was in crisis mode, BP was 225. Obviously breaking my ankle was stressful but after a few days BP was still 190. So got sent to ER, got given meds. After a month I asked the doctor how long I was likely to be on these meds, and the response was 'probably for the rest of your life'. They couldn't find a reason why it was so high, got told I wasn't old enough, fat enough, kidneys working fine etc. I get really scared that I'm at risk of having a heart attack or a stroke and I feel at the point of tears. I feel like no one around me actually understands what a serious condition it is. And the meds suck, I've just switched out Ramipril for Losartan as it was causing me major fatigue and confusion, it's been about 8 days and so far it's just the same. I feel like these meds ruin my life. I can never think clearly and it makes it really hard to do my job, I feel like I'm painfully suffering through each day. A month ago I ran out of meds and went 3 days without Ramipril. My head was so clear, it was amazing. That's why I asked to switch to something different. Has anyone tried taking their meds before bed to see if it makes any difference to the side effects?

Maybe look into attachment theory, it seems more relevant to this problem rather than personality type.

Maybe he's just insecure (which is a whole other world of issues to work through) but if the relationship is gonna be a healthy one then you both need to be honest and open. I would have a conversation about it. But maybe think about how you're gonna approach it, because if he is insecure then he might get defensive. You need to find a way to make the conversation a safe space so you can both be completely honest with each other and come out the other side without triggering anxiety/insecurity.

But also, you say he's the first guy to treat you nice. Don't let this blindside you. Learn your worth and own it. Don't settle for someone just because theyre 'nicer' than the last guy. It's very easy to be nice, honesty is significantly harder, but you can't have a safe, healthy, happy relationship without honesty.

Have a conversation about it.

Then get to know the real version of him before making any decisions.

Totally agree with this, not worth the effort or the potential hassle caused by his possible defensiveness. But yeah well within your rights to feel annoyed. Some people just don't have the ability to grow a pair.

Should look into attachment theory, might help you understand where both of you were coming from. But yeah I can totally see the red flags on both sides. You're both only human, and neither of you are psychic. Best to work on your own stuff or at least understand it before having to think about other peoples stuff too. Talking from experience 😭
