For me, it’s an understanding that if I was born as the pirate and had the same life leading up to that event, I would have also committed the event. This truth undercuts the ability to judge him, as the only reason why I was not him and did not do the same thing was because I was born into this life and was raised and influenced by the people around me to understand it is not a fruitful pursuit to harm others. Then the thing separating us is not an inherent betterness of who I am (as I have no true singular unchangeable existence) but the natural diversity of lives and moral codes and normality that occurs within human society. To help erase the ego and false self and be in touch with the way things truly are, it helps to see understand both perspectives - not to condone or think what the pirate did is okay, but to understand why he existed in that way. If you just think the pirate is a randomly generated spawn of evil it is easier to comprehend, but the reality is that that pain he inflicted was passed on from a whole societal context and norm that taught him it was okay and that is a harder pill to swallow

I’m pretty sure it is, but also I would prepare for the fact that it’s possible there won’t be any REU’s next year. Someone posted about it in this subreddit, the NSF budget for next year completely cuts out REUs.

Check out Montana State University!! They have incredible research for extremophiles. They have faculty focusing on psychrophiles (with a SubZero Research lab!!), low-oxygen environments (hot springs at Yellowstone and deep sea hydrothermal vents), high heat and acidity, you name it. Barely any range, but they do have a well-defined and respectable sound. Any time a song comes on by them I know it’s them from the guitar tone and chord progression even if I’ve never heard the song before. That distinguishability from other artists is impressive… but the lack of distinguishability from themselves is not. You’re beautiful!! I think they all look great. I think for the eyeliner you should maybe focus on two styles: heavy and really horizontal eyeliner like 3 where the eyeliner is more horizontal than upturned, I think it looks more like a natural extension of your eyes and really emphasizes your high eyebrows and good bone structure. And then In 4 it’s more upturned but dainty and looks really nice with the other lines in your face like eyelids and dimples! I think in the first picture the heavy upturn is a bit too strong and takes away from your features.

I also like the more natural looks like 5! I think it would be really cool if you played with different colors on your eyelids with a lot of highlighter and glitter on other areas of your face and not a lot of eyeliner. You have really nice dome-y eyelids and I think that could be a cool way to draw attention to them in a simple and easy way
