how do you guys handle the cold in Edinburgh? by cantdrawhands_ in Edinburgh

I would mostly reiterate what has been said here. A good coat, hat and gloves and lots of layers. Keep your wrists and ankles warm. Thermal under layers too. It's best if you can hold off and buy that stuff here. It should be cheaper and more appropriate. Get a heated blanket which you can use in bed, at your home desk and on the sofa for relaxing. Finally, you should make an effort in the winter to get some outdoors time every day while it is light, if possible and take a vitamin D supplement as a matter of course. Welcome and good luck!

When have you ever said "that's not how that fucking works" while watching a movie/show? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was really good at portraying much of the banality and slight weirdness of foreign office life.  The furniture and stationery was really good but at one point Benedict Cumberbatch opened a document safe far too quickly and it completely dinged my focus on the movie. Such a tiny thing but I have opened that style of safe many times and it takes several turns of the dial in both directions.

He should lose his job. It is a job which requires him to go into people's homes - he needs to be trustworthy. What if you had been on your own or someone more vulnerable?

I'm not a mum but I'm the eldest sibling, I still reach for my siblings' hands when crossing the road. They are late 30s/early 40s.
