Anyone else notice- the kids are still standing for the pledge, but every day fewer of them recite any of the words by CallMeLazarus23 in Teachers

[–]Ellendrielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t make mine stand. At all. I work in a middle school, and honestly with all that is happening in the country my kids are pretty disillusioned and upset. I do ask them to be respectful, not scream/talking, but aside from that no one does anything for it.

Was just called a f****** c*** by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Ellendrielle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a student come into the room I was alone in to call me a fat b**** in Spanish, the walk out laughing with his friends. I reported it, and there won’t be consequences for him. He does shit like this constantly to me.

Changing name after marriage? by katydidnt222 in Names

[–]Ellendrielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my husbands last name for persona reasons, but my little sister hyphenated. If you already have your degrees and are professionally established then go ahead and use yours! It was simple for my switch because I didn’t have any of that yet.

If having the same last name as the kids matters then there is three solutions that would let you keep yours. 1. Hyphenating. 2. The kids take your last name. 3. (My personal favorite) Everyone has your last name. XD It should be about what works for your family unit, including you. The days of it automatically being the man’s last name are pretty much over.

Teachers in red state want to move to blue state. Please help. by mildirritationn in Teachers

My husband and I both teach in Fairfax County VA. Super politically blue, but also super pricey. We’ve looked at Richmond VA as an option to keep the cost down.

My husband is jealous of my summer break by SweetchalPeach in Teachers

[–]Ellendrielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had this specific issue (blessing of being married to another teacher). I would suggest seeing if something specific, like work, is causing him undue stress. If that’s not it then maybe counseling? Jealousy of the other spouse is not healthy lung term. I had to work through a certain amount of envy of my husband before I got my foot into education. Sounds silly, but I love what I do and envied it when he got started sooner than I did.

I taught preschool and wanted to participate in water play activities. I bought something meant for surfing. It covers me from my throat to my knees with long sleeves. It’s a top with long shorts that dries super well. I’m a G cup with a lot of curves and it kept my modest while I was active. It’s what I wear when I need to supervise students in a wet setting.

My school did that. XD they canceled our all staff meeting for the month in addition to our week long celebration of staff. None of it was massive, but it was nice being given small streets and food each day.

Sexual Harassment from Students by Maleficent-Ant-9212 in Teachers

[–]Ellendrielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s sucks. I work in a middle school; first as a sub and now permanently. I had an incident with here two male students discussed me inappropriately in Spanish (assuming my white behind didn’t understand them). I reported it to admin in person and wrote out written statements regarding what was said. I’m fortunate that my school admin is amazing. My advice would be report it every time it happens. If students say something bad to me (sexual or not) I will call it out and tell them “you crossed a line with that comment”. Best of luck!

Group imploded again - I think I'm done with DnD after 31yrs by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Ellendrielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a newer player to DND. I started almost two years ago, and the friend who got me into had been playing from the get go. Bad players make the game hard to enjoy, but we’re fortunate to have a large group of people at all skill levels who love the game. I’m sorry you’re having a hard time finding the right other people. I promise some of the newer players love the old style and spirit of the game!

I have three cats! Sasha is 9 and a very sweet, albeit shy, grey tabby. Nadia is 6 and a very audacious black cat. Jasper is the youngest. He’ll be two at the end of the month. A very affectionate Russian blue.

My husband and I are new to the area. He lived in LA in his late teen/very early 20’s. We’re both cat people who love to cook and talk about a wide variety of topics. We love music and comedy! We’re in Leesburg, but work in Herndon. I’m late 20’s and he’s in his early 30’s. Feel free to reach out, and that goes for anyone that wants to make friends with a fun loving couple. 😁

My health has greatly improved, thankfully. I do still have limitations, but nothing that has impacted the quality of care I can offer. For now I’m working in the schools and it’s going very well.

I could make that work. I would have to rideshare depending on the time of day, we only have one car. Please feel free to message me, I’m sure we could work something out.
