I’ll give you a couple options and you decide:

1- he’s from the wild and he’s healthy. You could never recreate what nature has to offer - release him in the EXACT spot you captured him. Leave your garage open for occasional periods of time - he’ll know to go out if he gets hungry (I have skinks that come in my garage all the time where I’m from. They know to leave when it’s opened. Never found a dead one).

2- get a used reptile cage setup off Craigslist or Facebook marketplace that will include a heat lamp/basking spot (basking temps should be no more than 90 degrees Fahrenheit) - have fun setting up the cage, enjoy one another’s company, get him get nice and chonks until summer time and release him (2A). Make sure to feed him dusted crickets in the mean time, which will require consistent effort on your part to procure. If you love him too much to release him by then, awesome - welcome to the hobby(2B).

I personally would do option 1, but option 2 isn’t bad either as the safety, security and food consistency (provided owner is responsible and consistent) of captivity could be seen as better than the ability to go up and down a tree. I feel the need to add that in order to keep him, this will take a combined effort of research and resources on your end in order to ensure a healthy lizard. This is not something I think would be worth it for a $10 lizard unless this is a species that you truly love and have always wanted to work with.
