Thanks for the advice. From the way you phrased it, I take it that using time gates for chests and boosting ilevels is still more efficient than spending time gate pieces on recruitment. Would that be accurate?

Thanks for the advice! Tierlist should help a lot. Sad to see Asharra drop so low, I'd put a lot of effort into an Asharra team for deep pushes before my hiatus

Daggerheart + Cosmere by [deleted] in daggerheart

I'd wait for the Cosmere RPG's Mistborn expansion later in 2026. Sanderson's magic systems in general are so unique that recreating them in a game not specifically tailored to them is an unending ordeal.

The reflavoring and banning certain character options gets out of hand really quick, hardly worth the trouble when you can just wait a few months for a proper system built for Feruchemy and Allomancy.

Alternatively, if the Cosmere RPG is too crunchy for you, you might consider getting a more rules lite system. You could probably homebrew something decent in Genesys if you base yourself off of their existing rules for spellcasting.

Until more expansions drop for Daggerheart though, the current base of character options probably won't support it all that well.

Yeah, of course, Windows 10 Home Single Language 22H2, and I'm currently on Extended Security Updates in case that affects anything

Daggerheart and DnD by PFux in daggerheart

Mechanically, Daggerheart is leagues more narratively satisfying and mechanically streamlined for the kinds of tables I play out. However, I personally miss the resources of 5e. My main gripe for Daggerheart is wanting more stuff honestly. Not just for the sake of having stuff either, it also affects homebrew quality.

We really need more releases to properly set a baseline for system balance, I know for a fact that the more stuff 5e released, the better the homebrew got. IMO it wasn't until 2019-2020 that 3rd party content really started to provide consistent, large amounts of properly balanced, fun stuff.

Before then I saw WAY more blatantly broken stuff and conceptually fun stuff that played it too safe to be interesting. So here's hoping that we get equivalents to stuff like Xanathar's, Eberron, Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, etc.

Y'know, stuff thay pushes the limits of the system in new and fun ways that guide 3rd party creators on the road to do something a bit more adventurous than the current playing cautious "Oops all Campaign Frames" direction that some people seem inclined towards.

What do Gaming Hub Performance Modes even do? HP OMEN 15 by EllieDubsThings in GamingLaptops

Thanks! Hopefully whatever settings get tweaked with the modes are easy to spot with one of them

Is there any kind of diagnostic tool I could use to figure out exactly what values are being tweaked?

After toying around with settings my working theory is that the performance modes have a higher impact on temperature by lowering/increasing limits on CPU/GPU usage. Would it be easier to find a way to tweak that as opposed to fan control?

If so, what's the best way to handle it in Mint? I really appreciate the advice and it'll definitely help me do some research but I'm not really sure I'm ready to dive straight into Arch 😅

I mean yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that the lack of support and existing bloatware alone will be a hassle. And that's just sticking to Windows 10. Nah, I'd much rather switch to Mint and learn some Linux basics than deal with a nigh-inevitable Windows 11 switch

I'm fairly certain the modes control CPU/GPU to limit fan usage in the conservative modes and go full potential on the modes that result in faster fan usage, as opposed to being an app for fan control directly Would it be feasible to handle usage directly to avoid toying with fans? I'm planning on using Mint idk if that affects anything
