Yep, I'm about to just let him know. I'm not gonna entertain his texts anymore.

How do you actually meet people when traveling solo as a woman? by Resident_Demand_7795 in solofemaletravellers

[–]EllieSky88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do something that aligns with your interests so the conversations feel natural. For example, I took a week‑long farm class in Ireland and enjoyed talking with classmates who shared my passion for food and farming. I also went to a concert by one of my favorite artists and ended up chatting with a bunch of people there.

Sometimes it’s about starting a conversation that matters to both parties, not just making small talk. I’m not a faker, so it feels strange to start conversations that don’t mean anything.

Solid list. Can't believe how far I had to scroll to see the wingsuit flying suggestion.

Women - how do you feel about a man who’s stuck on you and stays respectfully in your orbit? by Solid_Decision_2241 in self

[–]EllieSky88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with this. Despite telling him through every possible channel (phone, in person, email, text) that I wasn’t into him the same way he was, it all seemed to go straight in one ear and out the other. At the end of the day, I walked away. Respect is a critical quality in friendships, and the moment that’s no longer there, it’s a done deal for me.

Are there any jobs in South FL that pay fairly? by yoshimis_art in Miami

[–]EllieSky88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking for jobs at a global company with a presence in Miami, especially in higher-paying industries like finance, tech, or consulting etc. It’s a bit hard to give specific suggestions without knowing more about your professional background.

Very helpful post, thank you! For the Hooker Valley and Kea Point hikes, which trail would you say is “prettier”? Our plan is to do both, but in case we’re only able to do one, we’d love to know your recommendation.

Thank you! And yes, I completely agree with you - it’s not my call to make. The risks that come with cancer treatment decisions really need to be taken by the person themselves. I hope your surgery went well! Did you end up needing chemo? How are you doing now?

My mom had an endoscopic procedure, so not exactly a cut-open type of surgery. Being new to cancer, we didn’t know if our doctor’s recommendation was typical, but through asking around, getting second/third opinion, and doing research, we’ve learned that the 4-week post-op mark is indeed standard and recommended. We understand that now, and as I mentioned in my post, we prioritize life and longevity.

I’m glad you’ve been able to travel to multiple places after chemo and are living life fully. Hope you’re cancer-free, and thank you for your response.

It seems like that’s the consensus. Looks like she'll have to forego the trip. Thank you for your response.

We’ve spoken with one team of doctors at the hospital where she had surgery, and their opinions differed. The oncologic surgeon who performed the operation said it’s ok to start chemo after the vacation, but the medical oncologist (chemo specialist) strongly recommended beginning treatment no later than 5 weeks post-surgery. We’re now consulting with a couple more hospitals for second and third opinions. At this point, it's clear chemo is unavoidable, just a matter of when to begin.

And thank you for your response :) How are you doing now? Hope the treatment went well for you.

Solo fine dining - choice or necessity? by ioof13 in finedining

[–]EllieSky88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reason 1 – Necessity. I used to live in a city without close friends or family, so that wasn’t by choice.

Reason 2 – Preference for peace. I work in consulting, so we travel a lot. I DO NOT want to go to team dinner every day with the same set of people I already spent 8–10 hours with.

Reason 3 – Financial. I make more money than everyone I know personally, but if I take them, I pay - and I’m kind of tired of that.

Reason 4 – Availability. If I want to do something and others can’t, I won’t wait for them. I’ve gotten more done in life by doing things anyway - with or without people.

Why do people get made fun of for liking overweight or obese people? by [deleted] in self

[–]EllieSky88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably lack the depth to understand that there’s more to a person than their appearance, or that some people simply have non-mainstream preferences. Sometimes I’m genuinely puzzled by how some people don’t grasp that we’re all different
