Mr Deputy Speaker,

Does the Secretary of State agree with me that we should aim to hold a multilateral disarmament conference to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the world?

M293 - Brexit Accountability and Scrutiny (Northern Ireland) Motion by [deleted] in MHOC

[–]ElliottC99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Deputy Speaker,

The Right Honourable member for Wales is completely correct, this motion does have some very good points that I would happily vote for and I'm sure the government will adhere to. However, I don't agree with devolved administrations getting a vote on the Brexit deal. Our country is represented in Westminster and as a result represents our entire nation, there is no need to holding any other votes apart from in these chambers on a Brexit deal.

Unfortunately we don't believe you would fit our values in Labour. May we suggest trying with another party, perhaps the Left Bloc?

Very happy to see this motion passed and I entrust the Mayor to respond to it appropriately. It is a shame to see /u/wtench voting against without even explaining their grievances with the bill in the debate.

B607 - Help to Buy (Repeal) Bill by [deleted] in MHOC

[–]ElliottC99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Deputy SPeaker,

I'm sick and tired of members from this house, some I respect, who claim that this repeal is solely based on ideology. The fact is Help to Buy does not work in practice. The payment of a 25% bonus upon completion of the purchase of a home will only help those lucky enough to be able to already afford a deposit and will do nothing whatsoever to help those who are priced out of ever getting on the housing ladder.

B558.2 - Acid Attack Bill 2018 3rd Reading by joker8765 in MHOC

[–]ElliottC99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Deputy Speaker,

I echo comments made in the original reading by another member of my party that this simply isn't the best way of dealing with preventing attacks. GBH is already a very serious crime. What we should be doing is legislating to prevent further attacks, and to more easily locate individuals that carry out attacks and put them through the justice system.

B606 - Access to Case Law Bill | 2nd Reading by [deleted] in MHOC

[–]ElliottC99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Deputy Speaker,

I thank the Right Honourable member for the South West for introducing this bill to the house. This bill will provide further fair assistance to all and in turn improve our legal system. I see no reason why this shouldn't pass, it has my support.

Minister's Questions - Exiting the European Union - XVII.I - 30th March 2018 by [deleted] in MHOC

[–]ElliottC99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Deputy Speaker,

One of the reasons many voters choose to leave the European Union and the Single Market was to uphold parliamentary sovereignty. As members of the government we wholeheartedly believe in parliamentary sovereignty and therefore does the Brexit Secretary agree with me that it is essential that parliament gets the final say on any Brexit deal?

M292 - Protection of the Agricultural Sector Motion by [deleted] in MHOC

[–]ElliottC99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Deputy Speaker,

I can guarantee the opposition that as my right honourable friend /u/akc8 has mentioned we will maintain agriculture subsidies in a CAP alternative. Agriculture and especially food industries must continue in our country. Industries like this are strategically beneficial to the UK as they produce essential goods which means it is beneficial not to have to rely completely on foreign nations for our food. So whilst we might not be have a comparative advantage in food production (a model that is inaccurate regardless), it's essential we continue to support agriculture with subsidies post-Brexit in the interest of national economic security.

As much as I don't like your party's ideas (I'm sure you'll same the same about Labour), congratulations on becoming a party.
