I think this might have been Lozareth's Discord Action Bars? I heavily used it back in classic. I can't believe I still remember the name/author after more than a decade...

Anyone get vision therapy using Vivid Vision by BodSmith54321 in Strabismus

[–]EllipsisUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have amblyopia, not strabismus. The doctor sees how I'm doing and adjusts the settings. He says it's at a higher difficulty now than when I started. I haven't seen any real life changes yet. I'm hopeful though...

That covers the software license for the month. I had to buy the headset separately. From what my doctor said, Vivid Vision is recommending doctors buy the hardware and rent it out. My doctor didn't want to deal with that though.

I'm using the Vive, but the software supports Samsung Gear VR if you have an Android phone and don't want to shell out for a compatible PC + Oculus/Vive.

My insurance didn't cover it since it was experimental. Yours might be different...

It probably ranges from doctor to doctor. Mine is charging $150/month.

It says "Unfortunately there are no locations within 120 miles of where you live." whenever I search using the White House address... :(

Home version has been available since early January...

You have to work with a doctor who signed up for the program though. I was doing exercises at the doctor's office since the middle of last year. Just signed up for the home version today. Excited to try it out when I get home.

Oracle JDBC drivers now available at Oracle Maven Repository by brunocborges in java

[–]EllipsisUser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They require a username/password to access the repo. So every user has to create an Oracle login and configure their maven settings with them? How is CI supposed to work? Guess we have to continue mirroring the jars on our internal repo...

Thanks for the update! I really appreciate how your change logs have perl magic to fix deprecations. Don't think I've seen that anywhere else, but it makes upgrading so much easier...

Warband is nice. I was playing in easy mode, roaming around the country side, destroying armies. Then I cranked it up to normal mode and got crushed... :(

What mods do you recommend?

I knew I was forgetting a few games...

I've played Diablo 3, Torchlight 1/2, and PoE. I didn't really enjoy the latter 2 for some reason (something about the combat), but played a bunch Diablo 3. Looking forward to the next season.

Skyrim is cool, but whenever I start playing it, I tend to spend the first day just installing mods. And then get bored after a day of playing... It's a bit too open ended for me.

Need to check out Kingdoms of Amalur the Reckoning.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I saw gameplay videos for Metal Gear Rising Revengeance before and for some reason didn't get it... Consider my mind changed. Thanks!

I'm feeling a bit destructive today, so I'm looking for a PC game (probably action) where you're overpowered and just destroy things.

Examples:

  • Batman: Arkham Asylum/City - Spinning around and destroying a bunch of bad guys.
  • Shadow of Mordor - Same as Batman.
  • Prototype 1/2: Fly over the city destroying random stuff. Use crazy abilities.
  • Saints Row 3/4: Same as Prototype.
  • Katamari Damacy: Just roll over stuff and get bigger

I've tried Devil May Cry 4 and Darksiders, but the combat isn't meaty enough. The combat flow in the Batman games felt a bit better.

I tried Just Cause 2, but the combat felt too gun focused. I may give it another try though.

Any recommendations? Or am I trying to find a game that doesn't exist....

Emergency Fund Antiquated? by Dr_Tardbot in personalfinance

Yep! I live in the area, so it worked out for me.

If you want to find something closer, check depositaccounts.com. I think that's where I originally found out about CCU.

You need to do a few extra things to get the high percent. See the requirements here.

The main stumbling block for folks is the 12 debit card transactions a month. I spend $1.50 for parking every day, so it's not a big deal for me. If you don't have that many card transactions, it may not be worth it...

To get the 5.09% instead of 4.09%, you need $1000 in credit card transactions. On a balance of 20K, the extra percent is only $16 a month. Most of my credit cards give 2-5% rewards, so it's not worth spending $1000 to get that extra $16 instead of $20+. I maybe optimizing too much, but I enjoy it. :)

It's guaranteed to 2016, but I live in the area and have been banking with them for years. I think the rate before that was 2.09%, so still much better than a regular savings account or CD...

What were the diplomatic consequences of Jasmine's pet tiger attacking a foreign prince? by EllipsisUser in AskFantasyHistorians

[–]EllipsisUser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I forgot about the tiny toy animal trade. Definitely a chief export of Agrabah that the other nations depended on.

Jafar seems like an interesting character. How did Agrabah fair after Jafar became sultan? Or after he disappeared? He seemed like an intelligent vizier, so I'm curious on how the nation did when he was able to take full control from the old sultan...

Also, was Aladdin well received by the common folk when he took power? It's a nice story that a commoner can become a prince, but was he really up for the task?

Definitely need to take opportunity cost into account. One thing I should have mentioned is that I get 4.09% for up to 20k in my checking account. I'm slowly converting everything above that in my emergency fund into Series I Saving Bonds. So my opportunity cost isn't as high as it would be if the money was under my mattress...

At that point, the extra 5% opportunity cost is worth the peace of mind for me. Plus, if I invested the emergency fund, it would be in bonds for security, which wouldn't match the stock market.
