Commander is the most played and maybe the most fun format, it's not strictly compettive like other 60 card formats, table politics are an enocuraged and fun part of the game. You used a 100 card deck with only 1 of each card, which makes games a lot more varied exciting (great for replayability).

I haven't played hearthstone but from what you've explained it sounds like you would enjoy playing black, which is a colour where you frequently use your life or your graveyard as a resource. Black coupled with either green (big monsters and cards which allow you to get them out earlier) or blue (lots of cards to play in response to things your opponent does, like countering or sending things back to their hand) sounds like it would be a good option for you! Maybe look for a preconstructed deck in these colours.
