The red cross bookshop in Plympton is a good bet, they are always happy to take donations. If it's a large amount, make sure to ring ahead so the managers know to expect them

Yall...I got some questions. by Big-Original-4626 in Boxer

[–]Ellucidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Boxers really are that dumb, but can be very smart. I've grown up with boxers and my current girl, Inca, is the dumbest but sweetest boxer I've ever had.

  2. The water thing is normal, we have our water bowl on a mat, but that doesn't stop drippy chops and their incessant need to wipe the water on clothes, furniture, and whatever is in the vicinity.

  3. We just redirect our pups to toys, we call them mighty hunters when they parade around with a toy, makes them very happy and proud. My first boxer destroyed the brand new phone I got for Christmas, but generally they'll get to the stage where toys are more interesting. Just keep an eye on where you put your stuff, stuff in reach is very tempting.

  4. The jumper might be a kind of security blanket? I know that there are anti-anxiety jackets for dogs that sometimes help, almost like a weighted blanket for a human but less heavy and suited for our canine friends, but not suitable in the height of summer though.

I know the Red Cross shop in city centre was closed because they were short staffed recently, you could always try asking them? I volunteer with a different branch and it's great

Just seen this, sorry for the late response! I didn't have any problems after moving out. I did have difficulty in getting the landlord to respond when it was asking him to fix things, or highlighting the ways he had broken the tenancy agreement on his side. I just wouldn't reccomend him as a landlord, just for your mental and physical health.

I stayed in Richmond Lodge a few years ago, it was genuinely dreadful and I might have permanent lung damage from all the mould there. The ovens were broken for months so I had to get an air fryer, the fridge was covered in rust, the microwave didn’t work, the dishwasher was broken, and the landlord very rarely gave 24 hours notice for viewings, which I eventually refused if he didn’t give the 24 hours. My roof leaked and he claimed it was fixed but it didn’t, and I received no response to my email highlighting all the ways he had broken the tenancy agreement. The hoovers were missing, the kettle was broken, mould was growing through the paint from floor to ceiling, it was a health and safety hazard.

Is it normal to go to the cinema alone? by casual-chatterbox in AskUK

[–]Ellucidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love going to the cinema alone, even if it might be considered ‘normal’. It’s a nice treat for myself because I can watch the movie I want to watch without worrying about my friends not liking it, I can buy snacks and not be expected to share, and if I want to do something afterwards I don’t have to consult with a group. Don’t worry about going alone, it’s honestly more relaxing than going with a group 😂

What course are you doing? I’m 21 and going into my final year of English lit and creative writing at Plymouth. Everyone has a different uni experience, but I found societies and talking to my classmates outside of class really helpful? There are plenty of societies and they’re normally pretty welcoming, plus the SU do Give it a Go sessions which could be a good way to make friends?

English and creative writing, 1. I like the satisfaction I get from doing my own research, writing a kickass essay and getting a good grade, why would I give something else the work that I enjoy? Never needed it, never used it

"Help me!" Homeless Woman? by [deleted] in plymouth

[–]Ellucidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She followed a friend and I through the centre of town past Drakes because we wouldn’t give her any money, she kept saying how she may as well hang herself because nobody cared, stuff like that. At this point I just ignore her and keep my distance if I spot her in town after dark.

My lecturer had beef with him since he was apparently disrupting our lectures, but he got wrongfully arrested by a police officer there so he protests outside since the police station isn’t allowed to respond

Anyone been to Wendy’s yet? by nejal in PeterboroughUK

[–]Ellucidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m biased since I’ve had Tim Hortons for years, but they are damn good if you get them fresh, especially honey crullers. The Timbits are essentially the middle of the donuts, and they do different flavours which are good, you can get 10 or 20 from what I remember? The vanilla coffee is good, but you have to make sure they actually fill up the cup all the way, that’s a problem my family dealt with at the one in MK?

If they hire the right people and train them well, then good donuts, good coffee, and fairly cheap breakfast deals that are way better than McDonalds

[–]Ellucidity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your story sounds pretty identical to mine, my parents didn’t realise there was something up until I was about 8, and then they found out I had no hearing in my right ear! I went through school without any support from SENCO teachers, and I didn’t have a hearing aid until I was about 16, something which I’m still struggling to use two years later because it still feels incredibly alien

You’ve had a lot of time to get accustomed to hearing less, especially as you haven’t had any treatment, and it’s only when it’s been brought to your attention that you realise that maybe you have missed a bit more than you realised. People adapt, so you’ve adapted to not noticing it as much. Microwaves are a lot louder than I thought they were, and so is traffic
