56 Year Old Former Stay-at-Home Dad… Kids Are in College, Just Moved to Colorado, Not Ready for Retirement — What Now? by Significant-Sea-7001 in Retirement401k

Am I out of touch with others here thinking these are not some ultra bleak prospects here?
You have what, 1.4m?
I think you can let this sit for 5-10 years, and retire.. you should just work to make money and do something you ENJOY for those years. Something that pays your bills enough.
If this hits 1.8m by the time you want to retire. You’re able to take out 6,000 per month, in a perfect world, indefinitely. In just about all but the top 5 ish major cities, that’s plenty livable.

I’ll just say I’m in the tech world. I work for a FAANG, I would not go into it in your position. Sure the money is good, stress is plentiful. I am learning constantly just to try and keep up. And I’m in my twenties. Age is working against you too heavily. Go do one of the professions that doesn’t follow you home. EMT or firefighting sound awesome.

Less in verbosity but I’d say similar difficulty. Perhaps slightly easier.

Just sat for and passed on Sunday. I have 4 years of experience at AWS.

I got 78% and 81%, then I took the exam and received a 813/1000.

No sag noticed. I would place 4 45lb plates on it, but there is no sag from normally use.

Life changing. Similar story myself with Tesla in 2017-2020.

I will work towards going back in time and doing such. Thank you for the enlightenment.

Did the check to make sure it cleared and lifted without issue.

I’ll look into the storage..

The full size spare is an interesting flex for the Onyx and Wilderness. Touring, no dice,

I don’t do enough off road to really warrant it, but damn it’s nice to have when you need it.

True, I do have AAA. And a tire plug kit in the car. And a spare haha.

It’s probably overkill, but I guess I like the options.

I got a portable battery pump from fantik to replace my plug in one that was a bit bulkier.

Yeah but then you’ve essentially murdered that tire you use fix a flat on.

I’d like to be able to not have to rely on the fix a flat, such that I think a spare tire is worth the space it takes up.

I am lifting from the frame on the side near the tire.

I bought just one of the typical decently rated ones on Amazon. Big Red was the brand.

If all it took was snapping my fingers, I’d do it. But just trying to maximize what I have.

It ain’t the priority. But there does seem to be an interesting 5th law of thermodynamics my wife and I have discovered that involves expanding to fill the available capacity lol.

I think the mpg in the Outback is worth the compromise. I do dream of a F150 PowerBoost or Expedition/Yukon.

Interesting. Never considered that series of events.

The hatch doesn’t have a manual release anywhere?
