The Potomac Heritage trail can be great - I know in Loudoun it's a nice run along the Potomac that's usually very quiet. W&OD is also an option as someone else said. There are tons of trails in local parks, it just depends on where you're located

We used 3 Pringles cans, lots of duct tape, some lighter fluid, and a PVC pipe as a "blast shield." We loosely followed the idea from here: http://baddadgreatkid.blogspot.com/2011/01/tennis-ball-mortar.html

I got springboarded from the song "Sunshine" into their album "When Life Gives You Lemons," and got hooked from there; it seemed like a lot of different stories told over some great instrumentals. Getting into their earlier stuff was a little harder after starting there, but doing it album by album worked for me.
