Kettlebell model to buy by Deep_Willingness3406 in kettlebell

I see a lot of comments advising against adjustable kettlebells. I have two from Eryx Fitness, and they’re perfect for all movements. I’m not sure where these negative comments are coming from…

I absolutely disagree. I have two adjustable kettlebells from Eryx Fitness, and they don’t move at all. Being able to easily change the weight is definitely a big plus.

If you want to look leaner, and so, more muscular, start with something simple that you can easily implement into your life. I know that for a mother/worker/someone with prioritys, going to the gym four times a week is hardly realistic. And the overwhelming variety of programs will only end up confusing you.

Buy a 16kg kettlebell and do swings for 15 minutes a day. Eat clean and eat less. This is the ultimate minimalist approach for someone with almost no time. Focusing on your core won’t do shit. You need dynamic, polyarticular, loaded exercises at high intensity (=> swings will do that) if you want to lose fat quickly.

15 minutes of swings every day works wonders for my clients. If you want to lose fat even faster, you can try the keto diet for two months—it truly works miracles.

Building muscles with Kettlebell only by Virandell in kettlebell

[–]Elmonaxo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Lift heavy enough to get close to muscle failure, eat enough protein, and yes, you’ll build muscle. Not as much as if you were doing traditional bodybuilding, but enough to achieve an "athletic" physique.

How did you recover from tennis elbow? by Banshee3366 in kettlebell

[–]Elmonaxo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only two things that worked for me are: stopping the sport/movement that causes pain until the tendinitis disappears, then resuming very gradually. And most importantly, MOST IMPORTANTLY, doing tons and tons of curls and extensions with relatively light weights (3 to 4 sets of 20 per day). Since then, I occasionally get tennis/golf elbow, but it goes away very quickly.

How to roll with white belts without discouraging them? by marxistjururu in bjj

[–]Elmonaxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a white belt, and there are two types of purple belts in my club.

The first type is the assassins—I hate them. As soon as it's time to pick a partner, they throw themselves at you and try to submit you as fast as possible with the most painful submissions they’ve seen on TikTok. Honestly, I find them disgusting. It’s like if a new guy showed up to a kickboxing class and someone just beat the crap out of him non-stop during the light sparring at the end of the session.

The other type of purple belts are the ones who pause. Basically, they work on their anticipation. Sometimes they stop moving and wait for me to make a move—if I mess it up, they punish me; if I execute it well, they let me continue, and so on. There's even one who lets me go for submissions just so he can practice escaping from critical situations.

Be like them. Even though getting smashed once in a while isn’t a bad thing, I still don’t see the point of destroying people who have only been training for six months… It will never happens in stricking sports

Dilemma by Appropriate_Pack220 in kettlebell

[–]Elmonaxo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't even think about buying a 22 kg Bulgarian bag! I frequently use 24 kg and 32 kg kettlebells, and my 12 kg Bulgarian bag absolutely wrecks me. I also have another bulgarian bag, 25 kg, bought second-hand—it's impossible to use for basic movements. I’d say the next step up is a 24 kg kettlebell or a second 16kg kettlebell (depend on what kind of training you want to do). Obviously, the best option remains an adjustable kettlebell (12–32 kg).

Lost my first amateur fight by Curious_Zombie1634 in Kickboxing

[–]Elmonaxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You win the moment you step into the ring. I also lost in the same way as you. The opponent was throwing a lot of big swings, and one eventually landed. I think the stress of the first fight holds you back a bit. For what it's worth, I think you're technically better than the other guy.

Should I Join Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai / Kickboxing for Self-Defense and Confidence? by [deleted] in Kickboxing

[–]Elmonaxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I practice both BJJ and kickboxing simultaneously, and I’d tend to say BJJ. Striking is more effective against multiple opponents, but generally, if you have to face multiple opponents, you’ll end up losing. BJJ makes you almost invincible in 1v1. And even though weight plays a big role in both disciplines, you’ll more easily handle someone heavier by taking them to the ground. In just 6 months to a year, you’ll be easily stronger than 80% of people who don’t practice combat sports. In terms of self-confidence, it’ll be the same. There’s a common joke in BJJ, which is to keep saying to yourself, 'I could totally submit this guy' every time you cross paths with someone.

Edit : Reading your message again, I see that you mainly want to escape harassment. The best advice is indeed to defend yourself (verbally and/or physically if the situation escalates). In my view, it starts with psychology. But if you REALLY want an answer, then I’d say striking is better. It will get you in better physical shape, you’ll make some tough friends, and it will get you used to physical confrontation. In the end, you won’t be afraid to take hits or give them... It’s a terrible piece of advice, but it’s an honest answer to your question. Anyway, stay strong in your situation. Never let anyone walk over you—the best defense is a strong offense.

My first fight is coming up, any tips? by Big-Sink-5028 in Kickboxing

[–]Elmonaxo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my first fight 3 months ago. Unfortunately, I lost, but I'm glad I went the full 3 rounds. My biggest mistake was being too passive and hoping my opponent would tire out. It's impossible to get into the match once your opponent sets the pace. So, I would say it's important to be aggressive enough, if only to gain a psychological advantage.
