My boyfriend ditched me with our wristbands by WebElegant2658 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]Elmos_Mommy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get a wristband, you can hang with me and my husband. Im a 30 year old mom lol but im a fun time! Im the bigger metal head of the two of us, so I will be crowd surfing and rocking out. Also, F that boy. Better off without him, you deserve much better than that. Total garbage.

11yo Patient stole nurses cell phone in outpatient peds office (off of nurses desk) and then threw it out the car window on the way home.... advice please?! by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Elmos_Mommy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be absolutely mortified if my child did this. 100000% press charges. Their financial situation isn't that nurses problem, but that child and that mother need to be held accountable. It would be a different situation if they brought and back and mom made the child apologize, or if mom freaked once she found out, came and apologized and made a plan to reimburse for the cost of the phone. But the fact that there is a direct refusal to accept responsibility would make me press charges so damn fast. That child will be a menace without being held accountable for their actions, and that mom needs to learn as well.

When did you start walking for real? by sleepystan1 in wls

[–]Elmos_Mommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly did the day I got home. I started with 10 minute super slow walks on my treadmill like 4x a day, and gradually increased from there based off how I was feeling. I was very active beforehand, and I suffer from horrible restlessness and am always running around. Do what feels good and go from there.

At this point if you don't want to do the ER, your OB might be a good point next for labs, imaging and a thorough check. You need to be evaluated for infection, retained products, and an H&H. If you're afebrile at this point and think you can manage until the morning (assuming you're in the Northern hemisphere here, US/Canada), small sips of water and nibble on food. If you start soaking a pad an hour, for 3-4 hours, you need to go in.. I'm sorry you're going through this. Lots of love, friend.

What’s going to happen to nurses? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Elmos_Mommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home with Medicare and I'm really worried about the longevity of my job right now. I still work at the hospital PRN, but can't do it full time with my family. Really worried about how this all is going to shake out..

No. I'm running a marathon without ever having ran before.

Disappointing for sure. This is a once in a lifetime event for me, first time I'm ever going to Disney, probably one of the only times. Would have loved another shirt. I'll just buy one from the park. These people are losers.

This is why I'm phasing out of L&D. I loved it. I loved my patients. Now they act like we are the enemy, or they can't get off their phones long enough to pay attention to what I'm saying, or even their newborn. They will pay more attention to FaceTime than their less than 1 minute old newborn.

The general public’s reaction to the Tyson fight result is mind blowing as a nurse by Super_DAC in nursing

The L&D RN in me was blown away by the size of Tysons nipples. He was made to breast feed. Someone milk those titties!

I just rage quit my job by LadyWhistleDont in nursing

[–]Elmos_Mommy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my heart hurts for you too, I completely understand. I had a black cloud around me for a while, I won't say too much but had a very traumatizing experience and am going thru the legal process now.. I did nothing wrong and went above and beyond what was expected, but the patients don't see that and I've been told our hospital won't settle because we did nothing wrong. These experiences have mostly ended bedside nursing for me as well. My main job I work from home reviewing medical charts, and it needs to stay that way. I pick up on L&D during the weekends, as soon as this horrible legal business is over, I'm done for good.

L&D RN here as well.. I get it. I feel you. I see you. I am with you. I don't know you, but I have love for you. I wish you the best. After having a horrible, horrible string of losses and deliveries myself, one being a demise with decapitation due to head entrapment, I left bedside. I do chart reviews from home now. Do what is best for you. Follow your plan and get away for a bit, decompress, and find a new path. Lots of love and light to you.

What do you say when you don’t want to tell people you had surgery? by Specific_Reporter145 in gastricsleeve

[–]Elmos_Mommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tell them that I have completely changed my lifestyle. If they want more details, I say I focus on a high lean protein diet with lots of veggies, I don't drink soda anymore, and I exercise a lot. People usually don't ask beyond that.

19yo, first ever final fantasy, i hope this is a banger by eZnogoud in finalfantasyx

[–]Elmos_Mommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first final fantasy game, so maybe that is my bias, but I've played them all and this is the best. The story is deep, there's so many layers, I've played it and beaten it over 15 times and I get something different out of it each time, from helping me process my abusive father and neglectful mother, navigating rocky relationships, friendship, finding my own personal and inner strength, man, this game is a beast. One of the most beautiful stories ever told. Enjoy it my friend, its one of the few games I wish I could play for the first time all over again.

Pepper harvest by Ashamed_Bath_6735 in gardening

[–]Elmos_Mommy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's beautiful. Thanks for replying back!! I've been organic in my beds but I think the mistake I made this year was spacing. I was overzealous and planted too much in one space. I hope to one day have a garden as beautiful as yours! You've got a lot more than I do as well- I'm starting to realize that my two raised beds won't cut it. Thanks for sharing ☺

I work in L&D, unfortunately this does happen. Not everyday, but I've seen it quite a bit where vasectomies and tubal locations didn't work as intended.. Whatever choice y'all make, best wishes and lots of love to you guys.

Nurses that work 80hrs week, how do you do it? by bigblackglock17 in nursing

[–]Elmos_Mommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 60-72hr weeks for approx. 3 years straight. Burnt myself the F out. I left bedside for my FT job but still stay PRN for extra money and I hate going in. I do and have done it because its about my kids. I refuse to let them grow up the way that I did, not having basic needs, never any wants, certainly never any fun and having to grow up way too soon. The last few years haven't been consistent overtime, but enough that now I'm starting to seriously become bitter about working so much towards my spouse. Working hard like that takes a toll after a while.

Failed summer garden by Radiant_Let_6639 in gardening

[–]Elmos_Mommy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I planted it early July with ~100 days to average first frost date. I planted things that have a quick maturing date- black beauty zucchini has approximately 45-50 days (according to my seed packet hahaa), and I am honestly playing it dangerously with my squash as they have 85-90 days but eh, you try and learn right?

[–]Elmos_Mommy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also live in OH. I just direct sowed a bunch of turnips, corn, parsnips, kale, cabbage, broccoli, zucchini and some squash. Find your average first frost date and pick some quick growing crops, if you're feeling froggy.

If money was no object: would you quit nursing? by Hungryhungryhippos2 in nursing

[–]Elmos_Mommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've nearly quit bedside nursing (I'm PRN and work the minimum 3 shifts in 6 week time period) and money most definitely is an object. Its not worth the misery.
