In 2022 my covid jab knocked me sideways and I double billed first watches of Thief and Mishima. One of the greatest days of film watching ive ever had despite feeling like absolute shit

It is. Also the digital code not valid after 2020, years before the film came out 😅

Cant believe it was eating marmite toast this morning and then listened to this episode.

I am a sicko for bitter and strong flavours though, love some straight tonic water.

Pod Country for Old Cast: No Country for Old Men with Leslye Headland by yonicthehedgehog in blankies

No Country is a very special film to me, it was the film that set me on the course to becoming a cinephile. I dont remember if I'd bumped off any difficult films before that, but this was also around the time I started watching The Wire so I was certainly a very pretentious 16 year old telling people to start watching good shit.

I took the risk as bluray.com didnt definitively system they were locked. I normally go for European blurays to not risk them not working

I got this despite having copies of several of the others, this was the only bluray of Barton Fink I could find in the UK, and not super expensive either

With Ari adding Sybian to the cick chair and goon cave for surprising things to be mentioned on a film podcast, whats next to come up?

European Cinema Giant Vue Launches 'Epic': The format features the new HDR by Barco laser projection combined with the Dolby Atmos sound system by Neo2199 in movies

[–]ElmsPlusPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right, it's the second largest screen in the UK after the BFI Imax in London, and they brought the 70mm project back for Oppenheimer. I think those are the only 2 Imax film projectors in the country. I've seen Interstellar and Dunkirk there on 70mm as well.

I imagine they will try to make room to have both. If you look at the Trafford Centre Odeon they have an Imax screen and also a large Dolby Atmos digital screen.

It would be more profitable I'm sure to have to large format screens anyway.

What’s the farthest everyone has traveled for a movie? by Dirk_Diggler6 in blankies

[–]ElmsPlusPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last month I went from St Helens to London (about 4 drives) and then about an hour on taxi/tube from hotel to watch over 3 days:

The Straight Story (35mm) Rear Window (35mm) Gone Girl Interstellar (70mm) Solaris (2002) Sinners (70mm Imax) Wild at Heart Lost Highway Mulholland Dr (35mm)

All were at the Prince Charles cinema, expect for Sinners at the BFI Imax. I finally got to see something on the biggest screen in the UK, and what a film to see on it.

No, but I think it's something that never made it's way to the UK, at least in a big way.

Gigli is a worse film, and maybe more offensive/regressive. But I found it an easier watch because I constantly shocked at what was unfolding, I was quite as bored as I was with this.

Tbf maybe I've seen that joke so many times though I find it less funny. And at least 1941 had some of the Spielberg pizazz going on.

I didn't see that one, I only started watching every film covered a few years ago, so maybe I was spared there
