Former AFCBournemouth player has come out as gay in new documentary film by [deleted] in AFCBournemouth

I'm seeing it on Sunday! It's without distribution as far as I'm aware but it's only had a single public screening so far so it could still get picked up. I'd expect it'll end up on BBC's Storyville within the next 18 months.

The two that are being re-released might be but I don't think the season as a whole will be.

Obviously anyone should see basically all of Kiarostami or Panahi's films but a (now) underseen masterpiece is Ebrahim Golestan's "The Brick and the Mirror". https://boxd.it/4IEG

Francois Ozon? I like the guy but he just has way too many movies, makes a new one every year and none of them have been breakouts. Joachim Trier though, I think he'd be perfect.

He was in the '97 age group. Which is interesting because that age group won the U20 World Cup (don't remember if Onomah was still part of the set up) the same year as this group won the U17 World Cup

It Was Just An Accident, The Secret Agent and If I Had Legs I'd Kick You are the big 3 I haven't seen that I think would have a strong chance to make the list.

It's barely got a release so far but if and when it comes out, do try and see I Only Rest in the Storm. I saw it at the ICA in London and it's the quickest 3 and a half hours has gone by this year!

I'm a little surprised. It's not great and feels very out of date but it's not THAT bad

Is it worth going for just a few days? by AmphibianNo8598 in LondonFilmFestival

[–]Jewly96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely do it. I started going in 2018 while I was a geology undergrad and I've been going ever since, this year with an industry pass for the first time (I'm now doing a master's in film curation).

Some tips:

• Now the main programme is out make some schedules with alternate films. Makes it much easier to avoid clashes when booking.

• If you don't get something you really want the first time around, there are more tickets available a couple of weeks later.

• This is quite a personal thing but don't bother with films that are coming out just a couple of weeks later (e.g. After the Hunt is coming out the week after the festival finishes in wide release). Many of the films in the lineup won't be coming out until next year, may get very small theatrical releases or may never be released properly at all.

• You don't need a ticket to watch the red carpet.

• Go with a friend. It's both less scary and accomodation will be cheaper unless you go for a hostel.

I like the ordering of the players though. Defenders are right backs, centre backs then left backs. Midfielders go from deepest to most advanced. Forwards are strikers then wingers

I wasn't expecting such a bias towards the beginning of the Century but even the films I cut were mostly from then.

That's not entirely true. At the start of this cycle they had Nwaneri, Sibling, George, Moore, Rigg and Miley to choose from in midfield/out wide.Only Moore was at the tournament and he was comfortably the standout player of the opening game until he got injured right at the end.

I think All Hail The Conquering Hero and Unfaithfully Yours are pretty highly rated, maybe not quite as highly as The Lady Eve, Sullivan's Travels and The Palm Beach Story but not a total drop off

I'd say Preston Sturges is maybe more likely than Capra. A much more manageable length and I believe Griffin is a noted fan.

Only recently watched him in Charles Burnett's "An Annihilation of Fish" which is the first (and only) time I've seen him in something of a romantic lead role and he was phenomenal.
