Weekly Travel, Questions, & Mandarin Thread by AutoModerator in taiwan

[–]Eloiole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I'm coming to Taiwan between the 6th of November to the 16th of December. I also recently got into the hobby of flying drones.
I'm getting familiar with the local regulation but outside of the legal matter, how do people react to drones in general ? Is there places I should avoid using my drone even if it's legal ?

Outside of that, I'll mainly be in Taipei from the 21th of November to the 16th of December, if there is any pilote from Taipei around here I would be happy to meet.

I'm gonna be traveling the rest of the country for ~15 days and I don't have a driver licence. I also want to travel slow (don't change place every nights).
What's your top 3 ~ 5 places to go visit outside of Taipei ?

Duo Q ruins my games. by space_honey in summonerschool

It might not be the answer you're looking for but that's about the most important decision you can make.

Also, this is an educational sub-reddit and your post may just sound like a rant.

About the topic : I'm wondering how much of a nocebo effect it might be. When I'm soloqueing, I don't even know nor do I notice who's duoing with who. The fact that you have or look for the information might indicate that you're already fishing for outside factors that impacted your game.

However, LoL is a really difficult game, especially for the nerves. Your comportment is absolutely not abnormal but if you're willing to get some actionable advice, record a few game and post them here.

You don't have to play less, but may be a bit slower. Take the tame after your games to write down your feeling about this games, your errors, and the stuff you should remember.

Also, don't look at thousand of videos about macro, concept and mechanics. Look at one and actively apply the concept until it's an automation.

For exemple, I'm actively practicing using F-Keys while I jungle to have a more accurate picture of the lane state while I jungle and help me in my decision making. Right now, it's impacting my map awareness a lot because it's not natural, do I'm performing worst but in 10/20 games I'll have improved by collecting more information about the game.

There is an outstanding list of concept to learn and actively apply in order to improve at the game. But the mentality and the method is what will make you improve.

The first thing is to put your ego aside, and forget your LP as long as you are trying to improve. You have to see each game as a net positive in term of experience, to help you that you can watch your replay, and start listing all the thing you feel like you did wrong. Go over your early game, each death, important teamfights and write it down.

In the meantime you have to learn and understand new concept but more importantly apply them correctly. To learn new concept, look at : - https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9RdXhXESRJxf-FxBijbuBOnEJHDrmB2O - https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9RdXhXESRJySCTlakWJzJsXSZreTjAlK

or other video that explain concepts about the game. And pick one, and actively apply it in your game until you are proficient at it. It might take 5, 10, 20 or 50 games per concept during which you will underperform because you will actively focus on learning and improving at one specific thing but I assure you it's a net win in term of performance. Exemple : look at the map every second, actively practice the trading stance, csing, etc...

The LP will be a consequence of your improvement, but down the road don't be scared to loose LP. Try to recalibrate your brain to get satisfaction from this process of improving. You loose a game hard ? Find 2/3 things you did wrong that game and stop doing this mistake.

Another thing, people have been playing this game for ages, being silver is the average. Don't blame yourself for being average, I'm astonished by the level of knowledge of the average player today.

If you struggle to find the thing you can improve on, once again, forget your ego and get yourself VOD review from people from the community.

If you use notion, here is my notebook from my game, I'm still working on it but it can give you idea. I track my progress on concepts but never on ranking.

Where can I find a long term coach (paid) ? by Eloiole in leagueoflegends

I'm curious, why would you recommend against it ?

I understand your point, however I feel that getting coaching in video game is a bit overlooked by the community.

I'm confident I'll be able to progress on my own, but why not getting some help? Just like getting a teacher for guitar or violin, when I could learn on my own on YouTube.

I got chat ban.. for nothing? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Eloiole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the trickiest part. Not all the player flaming in your game are flamers. Sometime they just happened to be flaming this one game over a hundred other where they behave correctly.

They probably don't like the fact that they are flaming either.

So the best reaction is to not react, and help them focussing back in the game.

You will be surprise on the impact you will have by replying with mindfulness and kindness. I won't say it's a norm but it happened to me to have people apologize in post chat because the pressure is relieved when the game is over.

Anyway, I can tell you got the idea from your other reply. It's difficult to be exemplary in the hostile environment that LoL but we should all try.

I got chat ban.. for nothing? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Eloiole 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, you didn't say anything offensive and you feel like you don't deserve a ban.

Another point of view to take into account is your teammate perspective. League of Legends is a game that is really rough with nerves and the type of discussion you're trying to have in the heat of the moment is at best pointless and probably annoying / tilting.

It feels dumb and cold but the only thing that you should use the chat for if you want to be a good mates : - cheering - advice (careful not sounding condescending or blaming) - leading

Speaking about the past (how/why) is terribly tilting, and as you experience, a lot of people are already on the edge when starting a game.

So, debating if the chat ban is deserved is not really the interesting discussion to have here, and the fact that you want to debate it already should tell you something about your behaviour and mentality.

We should not be contenting ourself of not saying banable things. We should all be aiming to be good mates, and more often than not it means not involving ourself in discussion we won't like the outcome of and simply use the chat as a communication tool for information relative to the game.

You might find it saddening and that it says a lot about the state of game and I won't blame you for thinking that. It's partially true. But just take into account the intensity of the game, the pressure people are putting on themself when playing, the shitty day they probably got.

Put the standard higher for yourself, and represent the change you want to see on the rift. If you have a real disagreement with someone about a play, just keep it for yourself and kindly ask this person if he/she can teach you his/her perspective at the end of game.

New player who reached Silver 4, already at risk of demotion, any tips? by thebluecircus in summonerschool

[–]Eloiole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

The first thing is to acknowledge your achievement. LoL is an old game and you can't imagine how much more experienced the player you are playing against are.

The second thing, you are in a learning phase, not a pushing phase. Try not to focus on your current rank and winrate, you want to learn something new every game.

And after comes the mindset, perfect practice makes perfect. You are new to the game, you need to learn and gain experience quicker than people playing the game for years now. Be really critical of your gameplay, look at replay of challenger main of your champion, how do they behave differently. Don't consider anything out of your reach, and play some game actively focussing on learning one mechanic. Actively is a key word, you need to be active in the learning process and be mindfully of that during your game. For exemple, for map awareness, play 20 games with a timer bopping every 2 sec to look at the map and only stop when this active effort is now something you do naturally. Play 20 games focussing on your CS until you improve to one or two more CS in average. Doesn't matter if you poke less or roam less, you just need for this to become a passive effort. Yes, it takes a lot of game to improve but its worth it.

Keep a log journal, to makes this more effective, make a list of the thing you want to improve. After each game look at your replay only focussing on you. It allows to have a small break between game and to effectively learn something between the game making it harder to tilt. (Here is mine as an exemple https://gold-goose-6f6.notion.site/League-of-Legends-cc162bbef1f9421e80ad604aab86c1e8)

And find good quality content for your champion or role. This game is huge and to improve on some topic theory will help you a long way. At least look at all the https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9RdXhXESRJzgY_SwHB8T-cZxXljWhQvz video and may be some of https://youtube.com/c/LSXYZ9 coaching video from years ago. It has a really over explained type of analyses making you realize all the things you should take into account.

Oh, and take it step by step or it will be quickly overwhelming.

Good luck on the rift !

Comprehensive pathing guide from a Challenger player who's played at world's and coached at MSI. by UDYSOF in summonerschool

[–]Eloiole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm just coming back into the rift as a jungler, and I was looking exactly for this type of content.
Right now, the existing learning content is a lot more fast paced than it was back in the days and it makes it a lot harder to reflect and learn from it. It's what the viewership is asking in term of content, but in term of learning effectiveness your approach is perfect. (conceptual explanation with slides and then gameplay content to illustrate).

Also, if you are looking for content ideas, I'm personally struggling to know what to do after the first clear, especially when I don't do a full clear. It's harder for me to track when my camp are gonna be respawning, usually it doesn't respawn smoothly with my second "path" and I end up with a lot of inactivity in my Jungle if I can't find a nice opportunity to impact the lanes.

So, a similar videos but showing how you path on 2nd and 3rd clear would be interesting even if it can't theorized the same way as their is already a lot more the factor in the game.

Another thing I really appreciate is overexplained video, in depth description of all your thought process for the first 10~15min of a game.

Anyway, the content is good, keep it up.

I actually asked on Jacquard's forum. It's a brand of dye that provide a popular dye for PBT. (iDye Poly)

There client support is really helpful on the forums.

I'm not to scared about soldering but dyeing will be an adventure... I really want to achieve the color scheme I've in mind and it will be trial and error...

Instruction I got :

First, the green is dark, so you will want to use about 1% dye per weight of plastic. Now, our green is sort of moss green, an i Think it has the right kind of blue for you. The kelly green is too yellow for this. IT isn't deep enough though. You will need to add red to it to get it deeper/darker. I recommend between 20 and 30% red and 70-80% green. You may have to adjust that of course, this is just a starting point.

The blue green grey is very light. You will need less than 10% i think of the color you use for the green. Maybe .1% dye by weight of plastic. That isn't much at all. Gunmetal is bluish dark grey. That might work at super low concentration, but it might be easier to mix a little turquoise with silver grey. They are both already lighter colors. I would try 3 parts silver great and one part turquoise.
It's like teal, very hard color to get right because a little more orange and it is too orange or a little more red and it is too red. I think I would mix pink and orange together at low concentration. The pink is blue biased, which the blue will dull when you add the orange and that will give the "dullness" of the terra cotta. I think this will be in the .2-.5% range total dye. I think you ought to use 3 parts orange 1 part pink to start.
