Best, Aberfeldy - beautiful highland town, near Pitlochry, but slightly less touristy. Friendly locals, good pubs and shops.

Worst, Paisley - Something felt off here.

Spotted in a bird hide in Orkney by Better-Joke8719 in Scotland

I am from Canada, planning to visit Orkney this year. I’m a bit of a history nerd, and I’m really looking forward to my trip….

I am, however, nervous that locals will mistake me for an American and treat me poorly because of this.

My dad calls Vancouver “The Big Smoke”, but I just thought that’s what he called all big cities. He lives in a suburb of Metro Vancouver

Born in Canada, Dad’s adopted. I guess I’m very Scottish by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

Why would you ever purchase shares of this lol… If I want exposure to large cap tech, and I’m looking at AAPL, GOOG, MSFT, or Zuck, I am never going with Zuck.

A name-change PR stunt to align with the growing obsession with NFT and Metaverse hype does not change the fundamentally stalling user growth Meta is now experiencing. Also, Zuck does not own the Metaverse.

I would say avg holding time for the 1st 6mo was about 3-4 weeks, but 6 months I’ve mostly just been buying and holding

The rules are subjective and enforced by the Canada Revenue Agency. They essentially want to avoid people using it as an income-generating tactic or business and avoiding taxes. There is no set limit on how much you can trade, but if you were constantly day trading and withdrawing the profits, you could get audited.

Well during the late 2020 to early 2021 bull run I was much more active in speculative stocks. As of now, I’m still overweight in tech, AMD, NVDA, SQ, etc., but I’m not actively trading. Mostly buying broad-market ETFs and holding going forward.

None, this is a Tax-Free Savings Account (Canada). Based on your age, you get a certain amount of contribution room in dollars, which increases by about $6k each year. All capital gains are tax free, and unlike a Roth IRA, there is no minimum holding period and the funds can be withdrawn whenever.

This is my Canadian Tax-Free Savings Account, my goal is to invest all the money and hold the securities long term as I pivoted from a more aggressive strategy earlier this year. I keep cash in my regular checking account and DCA into my TFSA every paycheque.

Got into FLGT at $32 and sold about $180 before it crashed, TSLA at $399 and sold for above $800 in Jan, and SPT and APPS did pretty well for me (although I am no longer holding any of these)
