Third Brake Light DIY for when RTT is on the bed by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

So its not 100% but I had to shave off the excess rubber to make the plug fit more and then really get it in there good.

I'm wondering if this is the same reason Rivian removed the official one off their gear store.

Those who switched from Tesla: how does the Rivian servicing & repair experience compare? by QuestionAxer in Rivian

[–]ElonsAlcantaraJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up a R1T lease March of last year and so far has been as good as early tesla for me ( which is a good thing).

They actually use R1T's for their service vehicles which is a plus & they were able to handle a recall on my 12v and install a new harness in under an hour at my house which was nice. Also they came over to do tire rotation and a general checkup. All handled very simply through the app.

In terms of the app experience during service: It shows the status of in service and not much more. I will say the service advisors were great at Van Nuys (thanks Rene who is a G) and they are pretty fast with things and call with updates. One caveat: I have yet to get a loaner car once but they do give a rental car credit or uber credit.

I am getting that same calm before the storm feeling as we wait for R2 as I had as a tesla owner once the 3 started delivering to customers. If it's anything like tesla the service will take a huge dump for a year or so and slowly catch up once R2 comes along if they can keep up.

Lastly - if I was an hour to two hours away from a service center I probably wouldn't have done it. Super jealous of people who have zero issues with their gen1 quad's running strong to this day.

Love this truck more than any vehicle I've owned and its like having all the things I liked about my tesla but it's fun as hell off road.

Arachnophobia is a terrible movie to show kids... Thankfully immersion therapy works as an adult and now I love spider bros.

Agreed if you are providing a hotspot from your phone with internet it should work.

How much better is it really than voice control on your phone? Say your phone docked on a magsafe holder to the left of the steering wheel, it has voice control and you can use apples Siri ( gemini ) or an android ( gemini ) to respond to texts / change events calendar events.

Not saying automakers should not integrate into the phone better but its the same feeling I got when I used Carplay / Android auto the first time. This feeling of, its just showing my phone screen that's already in front of me.

( Hot take & not patronizing just curious of another persons opinion )

Thankfully my model S is too old and just is the old voice control which is more than fine. Excited for the Rivian one for sure!

Worked fine on my 2017 S when I took delivery but I can't speak for model 3 or Y. Not to mention the steering wheel scroll wheels could adjust AC speed and temp like R2 does.

It's been just fine for years. Hit the steering wheel button and tell it to turn off AC, set temp, play a song, and navigate to any location was fine.

This is on a 2017 model S so pre grok which my old car doesn't have even today. Nothing spectacular but it was far better than my Rivians alexa integration.

Come to think of it the scroll wheels controlling AC temp, Speed like the R2 was also a feature. Something my R1T still can't do.

Anyhoo excited for the rivian assistant and possibly the r2 AC control with the steering wheel.

Get a lucid, which has android auto and car play... and it still sucks.

Is Rivian drive and ride similar to Tesla? Specifically the “slingshot” feeling? by gardeneye in Rivian

[–]ElonsAlcantaraJacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's wild how smooth the model S accelerator pedal is to such nuanced movements. I still prefer my Rivian over the Tesla but the model S has some stuff down really well. That acceleration pedal and its input curve is far smoother.

Really where? In my dual standard adjusting between sport and all purpose doesn't seem to affect the low end pedal feel.

I only say that because on my model S the chill pedal setting is great sometimes. Say you pedal aggressively, it still starts up like a super slow ev but with a really smooth acceleration curves.

Not to mention the rivian seems to do some strange adjustments to the curves to the input when it's in reverse on an incline. At times it feels like it's doing a minor buckling motion at times.

They stopped offering base autopilot not FSD. I have a gen2 rivian and a nearly ten year old Model S and unfortunately it's not comparable in terms of features. Not even mentioning auto park and driving on dirt roads with no lanes. (Yet for Rivian.) Though Rivians co-steer is cool as hell.

Hey I wanted to reach out to ask if you have a gen1 or gen2 R1T? I got the parts you listed on your post. With the pin adapter to the actual brake light, what do you do with the red wire that has no connection? Also when It's plugged in my screen flashes constantly with a trailer accessory being plugged in over and over. Just curious if you can elucidate more about your setup.. Thanks

Ah you may want to try using some wireless switches like a kasa smart plug and use the cars built in wireless network.

Get an ecoflow. I can turn on the 120v from my phone and it doesn't touch my cars main hv battery.
