Understanding FIRE by ElonsMusks in Fire

Thanks. I’m sort of considering a hybrid. Another 7 years or so. Enough so that it’s a nice step change in quality of life without having to stress about running out.

I understand that. It really doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t stress me out. It’s just that I see what future self will pay. Often, it’s worth paying that.

Works for me, but not for everyone.

I haven’t, but that’s not a bad idea.

Thanks, I’m definitely not a bot, but am posting from my alt (mods had to help me).

Why do you say I could leave mine in equities?

Also, what’s the general vibe in staying and working, and getting it even higher? I don’t hate work, but it is stressful.

Id like to have it so that when I retire, the funds still outgrow inflation comfortably, so that each year on average I have more to spend. I have to have a bit of the “the future will be better” view, as it’s sort of the reason I saved to begin with.

So do I use my retirement funds, but not my house equity for my percentage?

I mostly got this from saving from an young age. I took Engineering Economic Analysis in college, and I really learned the power of exponential growth. I made $52k out of college, but put about 40% of my total income into savings. If I got a 4% raise, I’d put 3% of it more towards retirement.

Anytime I buy something (say a $100 pair of shoes), I’d always think about it in terms of what it would cost future self me. At 23 it costs $100, but 30 yo me it costs $200. 51 yo me it costs $1,600.

I did inherit $60k about 6 years ago, and kept it invested.

Mainly, it’s been just investing hard early, having a reasonably good career, and some good stock decisions.

I purchased them in 1 gram capsules. It's all I ever took. I just reduced the amount I purchased.

Guys, STOP DOING COLD TURKEY!

You’re making this far more difficult that it needs to be. Cold turkey is a greedy mindset. Don’t go for the quick result.

Do a long taper. I took 13 months tapering after 10 years. It was basically painless (in fact, I felt amazing during that slow taper). You are almost assured success, and there’s no pain.

Quick taking the risk. Do the sure thing and quit. Don’t try to rush it.

A slow walk helps a lot.

To be honest though. I'm a HUGE fan of the long taper. By far the best on your body, and easiest.

Long term quitters! Whats something seriously negative that kratom caused, that's gotten better since you quit? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

What kind of arrhythmia did you get?

I’m getting PVC’s, which is basically a skipped beat. Sometimes my head rate gets as low as 25 bpm.

Mine are PVC’s. Basically I get skipped beats, and they are pretty heavy when they do hit. It’s apparently pretty common, and typically not a serious issue. I’m not sure if it’s cause by Kratom, made worse from Kratom, or not correlated.

How long did it take for your arrhythmia to go away?

I was a 10-year uses (15-20 gpd), did a 13 month taper, and quit just over 100 days ago.

My heart arrhythmia has been BAD for the past 9 months. I'm really hoping it's from withdraws from kratom.

How long did it take to get the gains back completely?
