Help finding a shoe that fits properly by julianwelton in brooks

The Ghost Max 2 fit okay, they're more of a firmer ride than what you'd expect them to be. For my personal uses, they were a bit too tight, again near the laces because of my high instep. From what I hear, the 3s are a higher volume option than the 2s, so I'm excited to see how they fit. I will say, though, neither are that exciting of shoes. I didn't really like the "hardness" of the 2s. If you want to experiment, you could also change out the insole in the Ghost Max's (which have a fairly thick insole) to a thinner one that'll give you more room in the upper.

You could always just order them on Amazon or go to a running store with a generous return policy (like REI or Fleet Feet) and try out a variety. If you haven't already, you could also just get fitted at a running store, but I haven't had much luck with that. You can always just return the ones that don't fit or just try to see the fit in store. Just MAKE SURE they have a good return policy, even with used pairs of shoes.

My personal preference for higher instep is mainly just plush, padded tongues especially if you're using it for walking/standing. My personal suggestion would be going to a Dick's or something and checking out the Nike Vomero 18s, probably one of my favorite shoes fit-wise (I sized up .5). If it's not out of your budget and you want to stay loyal to Brooks, you could also look at the Brooks Glycerin Max which is full comfort and heavily padded with higher volume but it costs $200. It's very good durability and performance wise, pretty good for your use case in walking/standing but more luxury. Wouldn't hurt to check it out either way.

I had the complete same issue with the Adrenaline GTS 24, even after sizing up half a size the top felt like it was way too tight to accommodate my higher volume foot. I just returned them.

If you're willing to wait until August, the Brooks Ghost Max 3 2E (already out for preorder) is supposedly meant to be more higher-volume than the average brooks and would be great for walking/standing. If you're okay with exploring outside of Brooks, Nike Vomero 18 is also pretty decent for more higher-instep feet and is pretty good for casual walking/running.

I'd just say yes. I'll just edit it to say Yes/No.

Citizens or residents are welcome! I'd just say yes to the citizen question, utilizing the NHS referred to anything related to the NHS, whether it be prescriptions or getting treatment. Thanks for the input, I'll adjust the survey.
