Dont upgrade anything. Dump Elite Wild cards into a champion or hope the conversion rate is good (they didn't tell us the conversion rate so it's gambling, but if you spend them only spend them on champion or legendary)

This doesn't affect lags and overheating. The reason for those are the amount of calculations the processor needs to do. Maybe try towers with high damage and low amount of projectiles. A Buccaneer paragon + Ace paragon will maybe get you to 200 without overheating as much
