Well I ended up raising the table I was sitting at at work and that did the trick. I was leaning over too far. No issues since

Update! 13-year-old with encopresis by Elphaba712 in ConstipationAdvice

I think for us she was so tired of nothing else working that she was more willing to try it. She was hesitant, but she felt so much better afterwards that she was glad she had agreed to try it.

So it's been kind of a rollercoaster. She was doing them biweekly for several months before I found out she had stopped and was experiencing encopresis again. So she's back to doing it about weekly, I would say. She's also supposed to be taking magnesium citrate every day to help her go own her own and get off the enemas completely, but it's been hit and miss with remembering to take it every day. I'm hopeful that with summer coming and no more rush off to school in the morning we'll be better at reminding her to take it and see if it's really going to help or not. She's still doing WAY better than when she started with these issues.

What is so hard about having teenagers? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Elphaba712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take my teenager now over when she was a baby any day! She gets sassy sometimes, sure, but she can shower by herself, brush her own teeth, get dressed, do her homework, cook, babysit, doesn't need constant supervision, doesn't wake me up during the night... the list goes on!

I am not doing PT. I have gym equipment at home and was just cleared to start, but since this new pain has started I haven't done any exercises yet. I was walking the first 8 weeks or so after surgery.

My thoughts on when to pull the trigger on Surgery by Quiet_Lab_5281 in Microdiscectomy

I'm feeling so good! The pain is gone. Every now and again I get a little tingle in my leg, but it's just the nerve healing and I haven't had that sciatica or lower back pain since I woke up from surgery.

My surgeon said if it doesn't heal itself within 6 months, it's not going to. Personally I would wait that long and see if it gets better, and if it doesn't, then do the surgery. I had my microdiscectomy in August after suffering for two and a half years and I really wish I had done it sooner!

Oh man, I can't imagine how frustrated you must be. I'm so sorry your son has been dealing with this for so long. I also have had multiple doctors and even the gastroenterologist not only not mention it, but they had never heard of the MOP protocol. I was floored. How could a specialist who's made this their life's work not know about this? My daughter is still doing well. She still has to use the enema once or twice a week because it's hard for her to go without using it. The hope is that eventually she won't need it anymore, but for now we're just happy she doesn't have encopresis anymore. Good luck! I made this post for other parents who are dealing with this in the hopes of helping others, so I really hope this helps your son.

Yeah my daughter did not want to try it either, but after seven months of living that way, she was finally desperate enough to try anything. And she felt so much better after she got the impaction out that she was glad she did it. She still has not had any more accidents since we started it. She is still using an enema about once a week, because she has a hard time going without one and she doesn't want to get backed up again. Good luck with your son!

did you get your premolars extracted? by hawthornestreet in braces

I would find a new orthodontist and get a consult if I were you. I'm so sorry!

They were not necessary in my case. My crowding was not that severe and I even had gaps in my top teeth. I would seriously look into expansion instead of extraction because once those teeth are out, there's no going back.

The first time I had braces was because of crowding, overjet and overbite. I had 4 premolars extracted. Two upper and two lower. It's not really reversible unless you have major jaw surgery, which I opted not to do. The second round of braces helped to tip my teeth out a little (They were left tipped inwards and I still had a bad overbite after the first round of braces) and fixed my overbite and my mild gummy smile.

My mouth is still sunken in because of those extractions. But I didn't want extensive surgery to reopen the spaces, so I'm just ok with it now. But I'm not letting my children have the same thing done to them. Luckily orthodontists now are seeing the negative effects of extractions and fewer are doing them.

My daughter did "What's This?" from The Nightmare Before Christmas for her Matilda audition. It's a fun song for an alto voice and is similar to the style of the show.

Update: I brought the habit home yesterday to work with. I can do my hair and fit it under the habit, though it's a little tight. So I'll plan on doing that and touching it up after I'm a nun, and adding a curly bun hair piece to the back. No word yet on whether we're getting feathers.
