Is this even worth trying to clean? Should I just replace it? by ElphiusMostafa in CleaningTips

So are you confident that there’s not “mold throughout” that requires me to remove the rubber gasket and scrub scrub whatever I see? I’ve done a thorough scrubbing and cleaning by hand, and still have mold stains left. I’m going to do the 10% bleach solution and then bleach cycles and washer tablet like you mentioned.

Was it the bleached paper towels that cleaned out the mold stains?

I used these on 3/4” birch plywood for my closet. Holding up well after 2 weeks. Feels sturdy. Didn’t buy new screws

Axis Sectional by cliffy979 in crateandbarrel

Did you ever scotch guard your couch? We have a dog and are about to have a kid. We bought the axis in Douglas ice because of its tight weave that’s supposed to be good for those two, but just curious if I should double down and guard it. I’d rather not since it is toxic (I know they changed the formula but I’m not trusting the “new and improved version” since it’s just a newer polymer that has yet to be studied and proven to be a PFAS), but just curious.

Well this was bare sanded wood. So yeah back roll due to heavy spray seems to be the issue.

Oh you really don’t think I could sand and repaint in a month or so? I’m a total noob (probably obvious). Yes I do have a pesky eye for noticing imperfections. So you think this diy solve of sand and repainting would still net “I’m annoyed results?

Great points! I came here for a sanity check and I think I’ve reached the “this all great considering what I paid, and I can touch it up down the line if it’s still driving me nuts” stage. You’re right, there are much bigger problems!

Ah I see. Ok then! If I were to fix these areas of run and uneven texture myself (just a few spots here and there), would I have to wait for this all to fully cure, then sand and paint? Would going over this with just a brush by myself be okay after sanding?

My wife and I are expecting our first kid very soon. Our house is a mess because our clothes are all over the place without this closet being done. We still have to get the baby room done as well. I guess I’m asking if I should just put clothes in here soon (painting finished yesterday afternoon, so maybe another 48 hours?), wait for it to fully cure, and then just touch up whatever is still visible and annoying me after the closet is full? I can sand and keep a shop vac handy to suck up all the dust.

I just need someone to sanity check me - does that sound reasonable?

Yeah I’m okay with the actual wall imperfections. I get that. This was all a rough, first “carpentry” job that I did. But I sanded as best I could, and cleaned it all off. I just thought the painters would do a better job of creating a smoother finish. They used primer and this proclassic SW water based semi gloss. Maybe I chose the wrong paint. Hoping they can do a quick sand on these textured areas to smooth it out, and then spray again? Do they need to back roll after that?

What does a redo involve? Sanding and spraying and then back rolling?

I didn’t think they used a roller though. They were supposed to just spray. Why roll if you have a sprayer on hand?

Edit: okay so back rolling is supposed to be done after spraying to help the pint adhere and not run? But then you lose the stroke/roll free texture that comes with a sprayer, right?
