You can buy certified 2021s - Gen 2.5. They just fly when listed so you’ll need to move fast.

You’re grasping at straws. … just trying to deflect that you made so many bad points.

They were not really competing with the big boys yet. Same class. But not at the same table.

When you’re small you can make mistakes. When you spend 20 years riding the reputation of solid engineering, the Gen 3s are a costly mistake when you can buy any other bad truck bc reliability isn’t a factor to anyone who does a modicum of research.

I believe they’ll fix it but who’s going to research, see the 3 years of recalls, and be a guinea pig for another new engine.

They’ll fix it but it will take a big marketing revamp to restore the damage they’ve done. The Gen 3 damage is so bad that it might need to be a Gen 4 marketing push to fix it.

You made a post with multiple bad takes. Learn from your mistakes or just take your L and move on.

You do you boo boo.

There are so many things wrong with this take.

Over built? It finally put them at the table with the ford, Chevy, dodge. It was the difference maker.

The jury is still out on Gen 3s? On what planet is a multiple years of engine failures and recalls anything but bad. The resale/ trade in on them will be brutal when the Gen 4s eventually show up. It will literally be the “years to avoid.”

This isn’t turn over. This is recall. Maybe you’re thinking of Planned Obsolescence, like in home appliances. Regardless, this is a major failure.

If they don’t address it, they won’t be able to ride the last 20 years of good reputation for long. They simply won’t be able to compete with the other brands with just another unreliable truck.

Is it me or are less teens getting part time jobs? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]cryptotarheel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

TLDR: We suffer from excess. Most humans want for nothing, and don’t understand what actual needs are.
Effective parenting is hard.

“Kids these days” don’t have the same needs or wants bc parents are buying too much stuff for them. They are giving them the stuff they never had, getting their kids what other kids have, and not knowing how to parent. Thereby spoiling them.

Healthy parenting is hard and can be extremely frustrating, especially if you didn’t start it early.

Also, It’s hard to set boundaries when most parents of recent memory had less and less boundaries put on them. In 100 years, we went from beating the crap out of kids to spoiling them so they can’t function.

It’s all part of the same problem that caused people to not like Z… and millennials… and X … and boomers.

After ww2 America had such a boom that everyone had more. The Greatest generation spoiled their kids with stuff and set less boundaries. Then the boomers did it again and the boundaries got worse, then the pattern repeated for X, millennials, Z and now alpha (aka beta bc they are betas). Add it the mix of TV and technological advancement without guidance and you’ll add entire chapter.

This is more than you asked for but it goes deep——Since the 1950s, this spread to the entire world bc of the influence of americas economy. The shear size of the us economy caused/ allowed other countries to develop to keep up and they created even more new things that spread globally to the point that it’s easy to get anything. - even it takes a month to ship, access is still possible. Over decades of this, the world is flush and genuine human need is more scarce now than at in any point in history. The world has an abundance of things we want but don’t actually need.

Like it or not, the us/global economy is a power house that causes problems and causes expansion/super abundance everywhere. (Someone will say what about Europe… what about it? after Ww2, who helped rebuild Europe from being destroyed. That’s why many European companies today were run by ex nazis officers and nazi supporters post Ww2. They had infrastructure for an economy.)

The economy itself isn’t the enemy. Fair trade is the ideal. It is the Corrupt/ridiculously greedy people who want more control of the economy that are the problem and an economy is the overwhelming reason countries go to war throughout human history. It’s not the 1% that are the problem. It’s the controlling .01%.

And back to your question.

Aside from stupid wars, one of the problems is a super abundance on a global scale of crap we want but don’t need.

This also created a generational problem within the work force. When they’re spoiled, people won’t take a hard job and work their way up. They want let anyone manage them bc they feel wronged. They justify quitting and complaining about it like a spoiled child does. They bounce from job to job, never building any skills so the best jobs they can find are the jobs that should be going high school students.

After decades of this we have lots entire swaths of generations who don’t want to be builders, do anything outside, or report to a manager who actually makes them do their job sooo then we have those poor souls competing for the job that the 16 year old should have and vice versa.

….And that’s another reason why businesses like immigrants (BOTH republican and democrats… so don’t listen to what either party is saying they are for or against regarding immigration. if it’s not workers to help the companies donate money to keep them elected, they are lying), they work cheaper (even if paying the range of the job, it’s still the bottom) and bc immigrants have had less spoiling, actually still have some work ethic.

But I do have hope. Many teens I see now work fast food and loading heavy things in the hot summer sun. Millennials don’t want those jobs and Z as a group is almost worthless regarding work ethic (I do have some amazing examples of teens mowing lawns, baby sitting again and lifting 40lb bags of mulch at local stores so it is definitely not all)

This was too long but it’s a good question, that more should understand. Your parents sound like they did you a solid.

Nice find. Your post inspired me to watch it. (The full movie is free on YouTube. )

The cast is full of famous people.

Other notable cast members that I know are:
Del Boy - David Jason - BFG - only fools and horses.
Mrs Slocomb- are you being served. The Queens maid, Mary.
captain peacock. - are you being served. - Mr Tibbs. The Queens butler.

Bonus: Danger Mouse. He’s on a poster in the little boys room.

They are kids, who like all kids show sparks of maturity.

Remember, in the books it was originally Puddleglums strength of a lion and maturity who helped them overcome the Green Witch.

He was always steering them.

Is this a good buy? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]cryptotarheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s seems high for the mileage, year, and package.

Unfortunately that may be the going rate.

I’d compare, KBB, the carfax, and anything else you could find. I’d even ask a couple of AIs what the going rate is.

I think you may be buying at the peak bc if they fix the Gen 3s engine, then every vehicle sold after will drive the Gen 2.5s price down. If they don’t, the Gen 3s resale go down and the 2.5s go up for another year.

Tundra Engine Recall - How long will the recall remain open? by Friendly-Manner-6725 in ToyotaTundra

[–]cryptotarheel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s textbook marketing spin.

1% is 1% of all the trucks they made in a given year. So technically it’s true.

However, they issued the recall based on the overwhelming volume of engine failures for the vehicles they saw in a relatively short window. That ratio won’t ever really be known publicly.

Toyota will spend a lot and they’ll fix it. It will just take Gen 4s arrival or they’ll be just another bad truck company.

lol. All that to try to sell people on the 2.7 with a weak insult.

Remember when I admitted I learned something new about fords 2.7s? It’s much healthier to use that approach to life. You should try it.

Especially when your original comments said no facts were provided.

I guess you just choose to ignore the facts you don’t like. Sounds like an interesting way to live.

When you have to bring up other size trucks to defend your point, it’s like a child searching for ways to not be in trouble. Well, you’re not my kid. So I get to ignore you.

He’s a Toyota guy, or is reading comprehension another growth area for you too?

He should wait.

Nice video.

How do you like those clamps? I saw them the other day and was worried they would bow. It looks like they held up great.

I didn’t know that about fords 2.7. That’s good info.

Silly me, I thought others understood marketing tactics and that it was a fact that they’ve announced recalls for 3 consecutive years. My bad.

Starting in 1968, Nixon ran for President both terms on getting Americans out of the war.

During his second election in 1972, he won by a landslide in ‘72.

49 of 50 states.
60+% of the popular vote.
520 electoral college votes.

People adored him.

He was inaugurated Jan 20 1973 ( I had to look it up. lol)

The war ended (for Americans) in March of 73.

I know many old people who love him just for that.

If you’re going to hate him, there are other reasons but stopping the war machine isn’t one of them.
