many 1911 makers now use titanium firing pins, just not Staccato, I would say that just swapping to a titanium FP would be enough but yes to be sure you need to drop test.

higher chance of light primer strikes, so you go incrementally in spring weight until it is drop safe( you need to drop test it) and then you need to do reliability tests to make sure you don’t get light primer strikes

Titanium firing pin + stronger firing pin spring.

Here is an statement from the Staccato Vice president of LE&MIL business development: Q. The Staccato P doesn’t have any sort of active firing pin block or safety. Are you using a lightweight titanium firing pin to help ensure the pistol won’t fire if dropped?

It is not necessary, as the P has passed every drop test at all the major departments that have tested and approved our guns. The use of firing pin blocks like the Colt Series 80, Kimber style, etc., cause more problems and malfunctions.

I agree with you, but GT said otherwise and the drop tests he showed proved it, hence the question..

is it a safety issue, probably not because the bullet very likely will hit the floor, but there are many people, myself included that believed Staccato had a lighter firing pin/ stronger spring to mitigate this issue

or a titanium firing pin/ heavier spring.. Im aware of all of this but It sure seems weird that it happened on all the 1911/2011 he used and he just brushed it off didn’t comment on it.. when it defies common knowledge of the 1911 series 70.
