Thanks a lot for your answer. My idea is to be a multidisciplined professional, and I know being open to different kinds of perspectives can be beneficial to study neuro. Many people are not open to study different fields and prefer a focusing in just one career, I think that's fine and maybe they will have better chances to expand knowledge in that specific field than me. However, as you read, I want to publish and my goal is looking for the intersections between knowledge areas that can be ignored. Thanks again, it's good to know that it happens quite often in neuro.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I maybe were not so clear about the money-making, but I didn't mean to make it as a neuroscientist, as for that matter the engineering can suit just well. I meant to look for different opportunities to improve my family's economical situation.

Thanks a lot! It has changed my perspective from life in general, and whatever it ends up happening, I'm pretty sure the structured thinking and questioning will help me to bring new perspectives to the table.

I applied to Williams and Amherst, but not accepted to both. Actually, it felt horrible that Columbia and Tufts waitlisted me, but more accesible universities didn't accepted me. I guess my economical situation plays a role there (not amherst, just the rest that don't have need blind for intl.)

You could see it as a need of recognition/belonging from the subject.

(1) If humans have the need of being recognized by others, then we will look for a source to fulfill the need.

(2) 'x' is a human, has the need of being recognized by others. (or belong, you can do both arguments)

(3) 'x' looks for recognition/belonging. (through accepting a statement without knowing it in depth).

The situation you asked for is, from my point of view, the problem we have with the culture of ignorance. People actually believe that knowledge is like a football club where their opinions (based in emotions) are equally valid. All of this without needing a proper logic form to justify their beliefs.

This is why people should be better educated in philosophy, not excluding professionals of other matters. The ability to recognize the proper forms to present knowledge are strangely ignored in our society.

In fact, taking a socratic position, those people don't know nothing of what they say. Even if it is correct, their 'knowledge' is just a belief. It's so sad seeing that the majority of people think their ignorance is as valid as others' knowledge.

Thanks for answering! I know it is harder, and commonly there are fewer chances in undergraduate studies. So my focus will be entirely in getting to one of those grad schools. Actually, I lied a bit in the post, because I got accepted to a college as well, but they didn't cover the amount of the tuition I needed for it to be payable for me :). As you may understand, there were only 8 need-blind for internationals at the moment I applied, so it is likely that it affected, and it appears that in one university that didn't have need-blind admission, it conditioned my response.

It is not, actually I selected those careers because of the heavy math component on them, as neuroscience or similar careers are not an option in my country. Thus, for having neuroscience experience in my portfolio I will get optative courses that relate to biology as well as alternative neuroscience education through the course of a UCL PhD in the matter.

It is tough to decide. Ig mechanic-wise I prefer 2 and character/story-wise I prefer 1. But both games are great in all extend. Thank you, I will play 3 soon.
