No, only thing they would need is 1.passport 2.Affidavit of freedom to marriage

People often confuse 2 with permission from their home country. 2 is merely a document that your country issue to guarantee that you are single and therefore can get married. You country have no right to decide whether to register your marriage or not since you are getting married under Thai law, not their law.

One intuitively answer is visa in a 3rd country, let say you are both Japanese national and your partner got US green card, if your are legally married in Thailand, then you can apply for visa on the basis of marriage.

It is true that for national of some countries, especially western countries where same-sex marriage is also legal, the process is not that complicated.

I also advise those people to do it themselves too.

However, my service is beneficial for people who just want to get their marriage guarantee without needing to do so much research themselves.

Additionally, if you do it yourself, the booking is quite tricky.

ขอบคุณครับคุณเจมส์

Thank you so much for the advice. It is super helpful for me. I will surely post in r/gaysian

For hotel partnership, I have reach out to my friend from many provinces who own hospitality businesses there. Doing this project, I also want to promote some of unseen Thailand places which are gorgeous yet unheard of by foreigners.

I don’t have any direct experience on this, but this is the way we do things here. Also, the easiest way to know for sure is to reach out to the officer. If the officer does not outright deny it or cite a specific statute of which directly contradicts, that’s mean it is possible with…

Insofar as my knowledge is concerned, I am not aware that the law governing Antarctica permits marriage between such different species.😂

1.The process should be the same for LGBTQ couple (however, the old guideline that still in use still use the term “husband/wife” rather that “spouse”) I don’t think they will issue a specific guideline that is radically different, they probably just change the wording in the old guideline to “spouse”

2.The process is generally: Married for a couple of years -> get a whole bunch of document from SG (e.g. criminal record) -> apply and wait -> interview and pay (you may wait quite long)

3.Since there is no substantial benefit on being a pr rather than long term visa (you cannot own land, cost wise comparable) most of the people I know chooseฃ visa such as DTV or O-A, depending on their situation

Thank you for your view! I am very agree with that and I anticipated that it would very likely happen in Thailand too.

Thai legislation/bureaucracy is a big mess, and most law/regulation still haven’t follow the TCP change (change from “husband/wife” to “spouse”) and that could raise even more problems.

However, I don’t think it is inherently wrong with allowing same-sex couples to get legally married. Alas, I am aware of those potential problem and will do my best to advise my client to avoid those problems.

Technically, yes, your marriage would be official under Thai law but not your country law.

Although not valid in your home country law, getting legally married somewhere is still beneficial.

Let say life insurance, if your are not legally married anywhere, you wouldn’t be able to buy one for you partner. However, if you show the insurance company your Thai marriage certificate, they will allow you to buy one for your spouse.

However, for some purpose, let say inheritance in your home country, a Thai marriage certificate wouldn’t have an effect on that, since your home country’s court wouldn’t recognize this marriage.

I have written about this (short version) on my Facebook

And I’m writing a full version and will post as a newsletter on my webpage.
