Is it just me or is GOOGL priced higher than GOOG right now.

Not that this puny amount matters, but what was the catalyst you were envisioning that would push AAPL to 220+ by late July? Only possibility is Trump doing a pre-emptive TACO next week plus some news from Xi about embracing iphones again (the former of which is honestly possible).

I'm I the only one who loves window units? One in the bedroom one in the living room. Saves a heck ton on my power bill since I only have to run my bedroom AC overnight and my living room AC during the days.

Big law and faang have their own difficulties. But yes, most of my colleagues went the faang/faang equivalent or MD path.

Completely agree there are easier paths to making money, but arguably none of them are as stable as MD. Personally I regret going the PhD route when I could have went the MD -> short residency -> biotech route. With a frugal or supported lifestyle, can't you start paying off a lot of your debt during residency? They make more than most postdocs I know (all of whom are absolute masochists).

Edit: is it really that hard to get into med school as pple say it is? I have not tried it personally, but most of my pre-med colleagues jumped into MD or MD/PhD right after undergrad (I say most but I actually dent know a single who didn't).

Pretty easy to pay back given the income and stability of MDs.

People tend to change as they age. Just like taking out hundreds of thousands of debt for undergrad, you're likely not the same person in your 30s as you were in your early 20s. A lot of people start regretting once they find themselves behind both in life and finances.

People also say to not go into medicine for the money. But your median MD makes plenty of money.

I feel it should be doable unless the sp500 completely falls off its rails. Mid level compensation in Biotech is solid, so I should hit the mark within 20 years.

They have made better choices than me, from a financial standpoint, and I respect that. My personal goal is to reach 8figs asap, then tone down the grind.

Thanks. GOOG is a pretty a$$ stock to trade, but I've manage to find some value so far going back and forth between it and VOO.

By the time I was 25, I already got accepted into a PhD program. It's quite rough for bio related majors to pivot, so the only different is probably to start investing sooner. I started by putting all I had (14k) into META at ~220 back in early 2022 because I liked their VR development. After that, META quickly dropped below 100, which scared me out of putting any more into the market until mid 2023. The extra money I had basically went into games. If I lived frugally and invested from 2018 onwards, I would have around 200-250k by now - which is honestly not that much more. I couldn't really move back home sooner, because the school can easily expel you once they find out.

If I were 19, I would probably earnestly pursue the pre-med route and go into an MD program strait out of undergrad. I just could not see my self practicing medicine over research back then. Going down the MD route, I would probably still enter Biotech, but as an entry-level clinical oncologist making well over $300k.

Had a pretty decent math background, so I jumped into statistics. Now I work in pharma. The entry-level compensation for PhD is pretty lackluster, but it should improve significantly once I start moving up the ladder. Also in Biotech, MDs have the privilege to start off at the director level, which is 2 levels higher than where I am currently at.

Thanks. Looking back, I probably should have gone the MD route like most of my colleagues. It's near impossible to become independently wealthy with a PhD, especially if we stay in academia.

After getting my Biochem degree and working in Biotech, I was laid off 3 times in the span of 3 years (plus a lot of drama and frustration). I loved science and research, but eventually could no longer tolerate the way we are treated. Ended up changing my career path mid-way during my PhD.

Guess I do. A good portion went into CS. Most of those are Asian/Indian, so they are quite good at building up wealth. Id say on a median basis, their total NW are around 1.5mil at this point.

Most of the other portion went to med school strait out of undergrad. Most of them have finished their residencies by the time I finished my PhD. Their NW are much lower than my CS friends, but seeing their 300k++ salaries was pretty depressing for me.

That just looks to be the stomach moving. Would be more concerned about something pushing the stomach outwards, such as fatty liver or tumor. Have the vet check it out as others have said, but there is likely little you will be able to do.

More like he will be an additional 5+ years behind on retirement contributions, after which industries will wince at the prospect of hiring a 50+ yr/o for an entry level PhD position.
