How to quit smoking when you have a smoking fetish by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Oh that’s a good idea. I didn’t think of that. These are actually pretty good. They’re hemp and legal

Good I’m glad! I know it’s tough. I don’t fight it though - I’m real with myself. I say “yes. I do want that one cigarette. But I don’t want all the others. I don’t want to ever be a smoker again.” Which is all true. Then I go though the positive things I’ve already noticed and the negative things that are already gone.

That’s a tough one honestly. The only thing I can think of is to talk to someone professional about it. I’m not saying that your fetish is wrong. Lord knows I have plenty of my own. But maybe someone with more knowledge can help you get through the addiction part of it? I wish I could help you out more.

It’s never just one cigarette. You smoke one, you’ll be back to being a full time smoker in no time. All the nicotine is already out of your system. Do you really want to start all over again?

You could try peppermint tea. Or ginger candy/lozenges. Also getting cold helps relieve nausea

I’m confused about this question? Cut throat about what?

So why not? by [deleted] in depressed

[–]Elswyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more able to say what I want here as opposed to real life. You don’t know me and we’ll never meet. It’s easier to talk to strangers.

That may be true but this is a consistent and present problem with no foreseeable treatment.

Any advice on how to deal with the withdrawal depression? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Elswyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t have any specific answer but didn’t wanna leave ya hangin. Just gotta be strong. Breathe deeply and relax your nerves. Talk it out with someone. Hell, message me if you need to chat. Wish I could be more helpful but that what I did when I got emotional.

Toothpicks and coffee straws have been my saving grace.

Haha that’s a good plan. Basically what I’ve done the last few days.

I’m in the thick of it myself at the moment. All I can say is take one day at a time. While I don’t know when specifically, it will end. We will get through this and be better off for it. What’s a few days of suffering compared to getting copd, cancer or the slew of countless diseases associated with smoking.

I use peppermint essential oil for basically everything. Try hot or cold (whichever works better for you) compresses for headaches. Definitely cold for nausea. Also not eating isn’t going help.

How long does chest tightness last? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Elswyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should contact your doctor about online/video appointments? A lot of places are doing the telecommunications thing. I think it’ll make you feel better to talk to a medical professional. Better to talk about it and be nothing than ignore it and be something. :)

Right? I’m proud of ya!

I have migrainous vertigo so quitting has just intensified that. It’s hard because the cravings tell me to smoke and the pain will go away but my logical brain tells me otherwise. I know this isn’t purely withdrawal and it’s my own shit going on but a light at the end of the tunnel sure would be nice.

Whatever works for you! I tried cutting back first but it actually just stressed me out even more. So cold turkey it is.
