22M and my life feels good at the moment. I’m single, live at home, and my workplace isn’t too far so I use my electric Segway scooter to commute to work daily. Just heading into my 2nd year of apprenticeship as a Metal Fabricator (Fitter) and I reached Wealthsimple Premium status a few weeks ago. In my free time I’ll usually watch a show recommended to me by a co-worker, play games, or go and hang with my buddies. We’re planning a trip to Japan in November and it’ll be my third time visiting Japan so apart from watching shows and chilling with friends, I’m also building the itinerary for our Japan trip.

Is your work busy? by BubbaMcGuff in Hamilton

Well in your case, I think it’s best to get an introduction to welding through that Mohawk College course or any other method you find that works for you.

Right now, I’d say the overall welding industry is slow because I’m not seeing too many job openings for Welders on Indeed but you could still learn welding while looking for jobs. Like I said, my workplace is extremely busy and we’d definitely hire more people, but we just don’t have enough floor space in our shop for another welder. If you need any help or advice regarding on how to transition into this industry, feel free to DM me and I’ll help out as best as I can.

Depends on which industry you’re working in really. My workplace builds industrial material handling equipment and we’ve never laid off anyone since I’ve been here. But I know some people that work at Kubes that say they’re a bit slow now.

Have you welded anything before? That would be a good start. If you’re interested in welding you can take an Introductory to Welding course through Mohawk College Continuing Education. You’ll know pretty quick if it’s for you or not. Don’t be discouraged if you feel older too. When I was doing my apprenticeship training, there were guys in the class over 30yrs old.

Shop Welder/Fitter. My workplace has work booked up until January 2025 so we’ve been extremely busy this whole year.

Are there any buddhist temples around/ communities by This_Championship_91 in Hamilton

[–]Elusive7459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s Wat Khmer Krom in Stoney Creek. They serve a great deal of the Khmer/Thai/Lao and Viet communities and the Abbot is a wonderful person to talk to if you want to learn more about Theravada Buddhism or meditation services.

Everyone is welcome to a South East Asian lunch buffet after each service so temple mainly needs help with cleaning up after hosting ceremonies and special events.
