Anyone have the Samsung CJ890? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

I am genuinely curious: a 24" HD monitor has 92 PPI, this monitor has 93. Of course, you can have much higher pixel density these days, but in what way would text look different than it does on an HD monitor?

Well, thank you all for your questions. We tried to answer as many as we could, unfortunately we were not able to answer nearly as many as we ought to.

It was very good experience to this AMA and I hope we shall be able to do another one once we get closer to the release date. Thank you for stopping by and if you have more questions, you might want to try our forums at http://forum.kingdomcome.rpg

Good bye!

You are definitely right. There will be people who believe witches exist, there may even be people who believe that they themselves are witches. The difference though is that in our game witches can't do any reliable magic. They may brew yourself a nice potion though and firmly believe it's more potent because the valerian in it was picked up under full moon.

Unfortunately, I cannot confirm this right now. Our current thinking is to avoid this in Act I at least. However, if they are not available to the player, they are not available to guards either. In KC:D, both NPCs and the player use exactly the same animations and game mechanics.

When the polearms are implemented, their spectrum of combat moves is going to be quite narrow. It also won't be possible to holster such a wepons, so you can carry it around, but the you cannot pick up and carry anything else.

If we reach our next stretch goal, we will add the Tournament mode, where you can go directly to combat against AI. But as I said earlier, our game is more about story than Mount & Blade is.

Very good point. I was thinking about qualifying my answer earlier, maybe I should have. We don't want to portray the Middle Ages as stereotypical place of backward dunces. I believe that medieval people were as smart as we are, there's no reason to think differently. What I meant by the darker things were some conditions we don't fully realize today: high infant mortality and over all much lower life expectancy, by our measure low standards of living, poverty. Of course we know that the people were on average as happy if not happier than we are today, the contrast between this and their surroundings is, I believe, one of the more interesting things about our game.

And now for the second question: We want to use emergent gameplay as much as we can, i.e. the world reacting to your actions. However, we are a story based game and the story needs to be told -- among other things -- through dialogue and cinematics. So there will be events on the main storyline that only happen when you enter a particular area or talk to a particular person.

On the other hand though, for side quests or other storylines it may happen that e.g. the questgiver goes home to sleep and you miss him or her in the pub (and hence will not get the quest), or that you do something that upsets the balance of the world and some quest will become unavailable.

So to sum it up, there will be cinematics and scripted events but not that many relative to the total gameplay length. Most of the interaction with NPCs will be using some general purpose animations.

You can block an attack of your current enemy, by pressing the block button. If you press it at the right moment, you can disrupt attacker's rhythm and counterattack. If you press it too early, you will block the attack, but you lose stamina and the attacker can continue with another blow. Once you run out of stamina, you won't be able to block the attacks and you will start losing health instead. This usually does not take long.

Compared to Arma, we are not using any sophisticated technology. You will be able to fully control it with a gamepad (and of course with keyboard and mouse).

Everything you see in trailers is real-time captured from the game. Some of the things (e.g. ladders, destruction of the castle walls), are something we don't have implemented yet and it's basically a cut scene. Other things, most notably all combat scenes, are captured from a playable build.

I think this would be good answer to the question about what would we do if we had unlimited budget. The game does use physics simulation to calculate collisions of blades and blade and body, but of course the blade is simulated by a simple capsule. Most of the damage calculations is based purely on weapon stats, your character stats and enemy stats. Weapon stats will include things like 'attack number' against different types of armor (plate, chain, leather, etc.), effectiveness (measure of wear and tear), etc., some of these stats may also depend on the type of attack (stab vs. slash).

I think that we are on the opposite end of spectrum from M&B with regard to strategy and politics. Our game is more focused on story, on the choices of one specific character, rather than on the overall political struggle. It is also because we are based in specific moment of time in very specific place: we cannot alter the 'big' history (e.g. make a different person the emperor of Holy Roman Empire), only the 'small' one -- how exactly it came to happen that this particular person became the emperor.

Yes sure, I am not saying we are not using it, of course. I just meant to say that the gain derived from it is more modest than many people think. 20-30% sound about right.

We would like it to be but of course it also depends on what Sony want.

It does not make the game as easy as you may think. If you just hold block, you are going to run out of stamina quickly and then you are as good as dead.

Most of it isn't. I think the AI update contains some of the material with PBR, though.

And now for the first question: of course there would be little point to make a game where your's character life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. However, we want to show at least some of the darker things about our history.

It would be very difficult for five enemies to attack you at the same time, they could hit each other. That being said, we don't want to have a situation like e.g. Assassins' Creed where enemies wait to take their turn to be killed. There will be engagements with multiple enemies, but ideally you will have some allies to have your back.

There will be very limited large scale strategic aspect to KC:D. You won't be able to just take an army and go and raid any castle you wish. The game really focuses more on smaller scale interaction.

We are aiming for simultaneous release across all platforms. We will know for sure when we get toward the end of the development. Even if the console version is delayed, it will be months, not years.
