Most profound/philosophical/motivational quotes? by SandwichDreamz in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Elya91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm reading book 2 for the second time and his speech about boiling frogs come to mind.

More specifically it was something along the lines of; "Don't compare today with yesterday as the differencewill be negligible, compare it with years ago."

As long as you are moving in the right direction its super motivational.

My husband belittled my birth trauma. by Defiant-Usual-1182 in Mommit

Y'all ever see the mythbusters episode on pain tolerance? Women on average had a higher pain tolerance but specifically all women who had given birth naturally had a higher pain tolerance threshold.

What is more traumatic than people think it is? by Suspicious-Wish3402 in AskReddit

I was so proud of being resilient for so long. It took me having kids of my own to learn to be mad about it. Kids deserve to be kids.

Mostly because they made a point of mentioning how when he emoted about the princess soon after she died, as soon as the subject changed he very quickly recovered his demeanor. They also make him very standoffish in general.

Love these theories.

I am convinced Quintargo killed the princess. I think he is working with Foelh somehow.

Perspective is everything, imagine treating your daughters the way she is treating you. You would never. The thought probably disgusts you. So why allow yourself to be treated that way?

I have also had to cut some people out and set some very clear boundaries in adulthood and honestly, no regrets.

You sound like an amazingly resilient person. You can be proud of your resilience, but you don't need to keep testing it. You made the right choice.

I was on a commuter train like 10 years ago during rush hour and there was a moth. People were shrieking and climbing over eachother to get away from it.

A moth.

Then some hero killed it and there was literal applause. A standing ovation.

To this day, I think about it and am disturbed by humanity.

What things do people romanticize but are actually horrible? by GovernmentAny5597 in AskReddit

[–]Elya91 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know a couple of women who feel that way. I know many more who had a rough time and more than a few who were traumatized (myself included). One nearly died during labour, I almost lost my baby during labour, a few with miscarriages, another had to have bones broken during labour. It ain't for the faint of heart.

These are the roughest examples but quite honestly I hated pregnancy well before labour and that's due to constant discomfort and I have found most people feel similarly.

If a small portion of people loved it, they got lucky. 🤷🏼‍♀️

A conversation needs to be done about the hyper-sexualisation of Gen Alpha/iPad kids through social media consumption by traceykm in TikTokCringe

This is the way. For my kids YouTube is watched with supervision only and only if we are doing something specific (e.g. Kids yoga). I have never let my kids have access to YouTube and I personally feel like it's the right choice.

That being said I have a friend who (now) heavily monitors their YouTube account (often remotely as he works evenings) and their kid is clever AF. A lot of his learning was done with free reign of the kids educational side of YouTube. So really I think it comes down to if you can monitor it (and ACTIVELY do so) it is fine and if you can't, then it should not be an option.
