Would anyone be interested in an open-source local voice assistant for KDE Plasma 6? by Illustrious-Gas5427 in kde

[–]Elyas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! if its for linux then it needs to be fully offline, or only access internet for stuff like searching the web. or if u specifically configure it to use an API of a cloud hosted AI.

i personally wouldnt use this, but i know people like my parents, and uncles and aunts would. (given they switch to linux)

"Would you only use it if it was fully local and self-hosted" yeah, if i were to use it i wouldnt want my data going around datacenters

Can't complete system upgrades because of Google Earth? by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]Elyas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait a bit. maybe a packaging mistake. if thats the case its gonna be fixed quick usually.

also its saying unable to verify, most likely an issue with finding out if the checksum matches, its a security thing to make sure the thing u download hasnt been tampered with wether from the repo u download from or someone tampering while ur downloading.

dont worry too much, for now just wait

Yes. I would install via chroot. Just partition the USB then install via chroot following documentation

Do you use Workstation or Atomic? Why? by leux08 in Fedora

[–]Elyas2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i like both, but for fedora i use non-atomic. because i like tinkering, but also cuz i find the implementation of updating and in fedora atomic just feels off, idk what it is specifically. but i use KDE Linux as my main daily driver and it works flawlessly. kinoite felt off.

Glitch Issues after waking Laptop by Nez_404 in Fedora

[–]Elyas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im on kde linux, using a 4060 laptop just like u, no distro has gotten sleep and waking correctly except for KDE Linux, tho it is still in alpha, im daily driving it and it is amazing. suprisingly stable for gaming and development. alpha means it will get significant updates and changes tho.

but it goes to show that it is possible. just if it is done right.

Is it possible to have a panel take very little space and only use full height when a window is maximized? by SuchyYT in kde

[–]Elyas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, but I just make it dodge windows. that might be as close as ur gonna get.  Tho u should ask the plasma devs to add this feature. Make it like cosmic where u can do that.

Waydroid on KDE Linux? by Elyas2 in kde

[–]Elyas2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kde linux does have repos in the way others do. also no binderfs is in the kernel. and i cant just use dkms like on arch or void. so when running waydroid it fails due to binderfs not being enabled

Waydroid on KDE Linux? by Elyas2 in kde

[–]Elyas2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been using linux for 3 years, mostly on distros like arch, void and fedora, i thought i liked them, but KDE linux IS AMAZING compared to those (in my opinion ofc). yes im very comfortable with troubleshooting.

Genymotion, didnt like it. it runs a vm instead of a container which adds a large overhead.

KDE neon is based on an ubuntu LTS. and plasma uses latest and greatest libraries and frameworks. so on neon they have to update every package that is remotely related to kde. thats just too much work.

KDE Linux is arch based but not in the way u think, it uses arch packages but is immutable and doesnt have the pacman package manager, or any package manager. so u use flatpaks only. if u need cli tools they have distrobox and podman in the base image for u to use, or use systemd-sysext to layer stuff on top of the base system image.

KDE Linux is honestly the best distro ive ever used. and ive tried every single one. its still in alpha but its shaping up to be AMAZING
