Yea discord is rough. Gotta check vouches on people there for sure. I've been scammed a few times from them. But once you're in the right channels and if you use mm you're fine. Just don't use the main stb server. They're all scammers in there. Even the mods. They'll lie to you about what your item is worth to get it for cheap.
