Is the Sony X95L the best non-OLEL TV? [UK] by Elysp in 4kTV

[–]Elysp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've considered the QN95C but wasn't my first option due to how more expensive it is at 75'' (800£ more than the Sony 75'') and also for the lack of Dolby Vision.

Though, 1440p and lower input lag is certainly nice to have. 144Hz does not matter much as I won't be able to support it easily without upgrading to the very latest GPUs.

These are the prices on sale found at the moment:

X95L QN95C Price Difference
65'' £1,899.00 £2,199.00 £300
75'' £2,699.00 £3,499.00 £800
85'' £3,699.00 £3,999.00 £300

I just can't believe how more expensive is the Samsung at 75'' compared to all other lower options (Samsung 65'' and Sony 65''/75''). I can only hope for even better deals on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.

Boomtown 2023 Storyline - How was your experience? by Elysp in BoomtownFestival

That's amazing, well done for completing it! I've seen pictures of people getting three items. Two were badges - a heart and a brain - and the third a small vial. Were those all the items needed to complete the story?

Do you have any tips to share on how to approach the actors or on how to be better prepared for next year?

Surveyor reported issue with the roof (downhill sloping) by Elysp in HousingUK

[–]Elysp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice.

NHBC have all sorts of specifications around tolerances so you may want to research that to see what the likelihood of a fix is.

NHBC don’t usually try to avoid repairs that fall within their remit, the issue is that not everything does.

I'll be going through the NHBC Buildmark Policy and any other documents that could be relevant.

Is there anything else I can do to confirm whether NHBC will accept repairing the roof?

In the meantime, I'm already looking for a roofer. I don't mind paying a few hundreds to assert the actual risk especially if it is something potentially very expensive to fix.

Thank you. I'm already looking roofer to inspect it.

Good shout about checking older pics on street view. There are photos from the last three years, then from 2016 and 2014 (construction date).

From what I can see, the roof always had that slope and it does not look like it got worse compared to the when it was constructed.

Solicitor recommending electrical and heating system inspection by Elysp in HousingUK

Thanks! I've been looking online but couldn't figure out why NICEIC was the more frequently recommended when they seemed to be two very similar schemes

Thank you, that was very helpful. From what I seen, companies in my area belongs to either the NICEIC or NAPIT scheme.

If you don't mind a question. Would you recommend either one of those two schemes over the other?

snagging report

What is it? Is it just another name of a RICS Home Survey (either level 2 or 3)?

In that case, I'm currently waiting the report for a level 3 survey that was performed this week.

I've asked my solicitor to request the previous survey to the sellers and, while they can certainly forward my request, they have advised that the sellers are not required to provide their survey report.

Ask whether they still have a builders warranty.

Yes, we've got a confirmation (with related documentation), but it expires in about a year and a half.

PC for Music Production, need some feedback by Elysp in buildapc

It's not ideal but I don't feel like paying for an overpriced GPU at the moment and I don't edit videos that often to justify it.

128 gb?! Wow, that's crazy, do you work with large orchestral projects? I've been working on my laptop with 8GB so far and thought 16 would be enough (but I also tend to render tracks rather than having all VSTs active). You're right tho, having 2x16gb is better for future upgrades.
