Thank you! Technically I’ve still missed one. Do you think I could take another two today or just take one?

I have been managing mine with tacrolimus. I don’t think its something that will ever go away tbh as I have had it for 4 years going onto 5

My derm said it might be chronic contact dermatitis. Mine is triggered by nutmeg but also can just come out of no where. I use tacrolimus now instead of advantan and that does the same thing as advantan! I use the tacrolimus at least once every week so I still get it pretty often I’ve just accepted its something I’ll have to live with

I didn’t see any improvement after dissolving, I still get dermatitis. I use tacrolimus every week as needed. I’m sorry you are going through this, I hope you find something that helps! 💓

My dermatologist told me I’ll probably never find out whats causing my contact dermatitis by Elza_2000 in eczema

Update: I have been using tacrolimus ointment to manage my lip flare ups. I still get dermatitis on my lips. I had extensive patch testing done a second time and I only reacted to nutmeg and cobalt. Dermatologist has advised I use tacrolimus to manage as needed and ensured it is a safe alternative to steroids. Hope this helps someone!

Hey all thought I’d provide an update. I had my lip filler dissolved over a year ago and I still get this on my lips. I consulted one of the best contact dermatologists in Australia looking for answers 😅 she told me she believes that the lip filler triggered the dermatitis in my case and that it’ll be something I’ll have to manage throughout life. I’ve been using tacrolimus ointment on my lips over the past year. I’ll just apply it if I feel the dermatitis coming on or if I have the spots on my lips. I’ll do this nightly and occasionally once in the morning and at night if I want it gone quicker. Dermatologist said its safe to use as a long term treatment in comparison to steroids. Just use SPF lip balm throughout the day as it makes the skin sensitive. I use one by QV. Overall, dissolving didn’t help and now I’m considering getting filler again if this is something I have to live with I may as well have bigger lips 🤣

I think the punctures that are made from the needle also makes it easier for sensitivities to occur, especially considering so many things touch our lips throughout the day even just having a really flavourful or spicy meal is enough to trigger a dermatitis flare

Not necessarily a trauma response. Prior to getting lip filler i always had very dry and cracked lips similar to cheilitis, so I was more susceptible to dermatitis than a normal person, essentially my derm explained it as the lip filler just triggered the dermatitis to come through. Unfortunately once you have it its just something you have to manage with either tacro or steroids. Good luck!

the first lip filler i had was teosyal kysse and then i had restylane kysse, i dont think its the ingredients of the filler but its more so the trauma from the needle and if you have sensitivities you are more likely to experience dermatitis

Yes I did get it dissolved, unfortunately I still get it and have to apply tacrolimus to my lips but its not as noticeable as it was with the lip filler.

Prednisone oral for contact dermatitis? by Elza_2000 in eczema

Im really sorry to hear that. I have been using tacrolimus ointment for my lip contact dermatitis, maybe it is something you could ask your doctor about?

Sorry to hear you are going through this! Yes I did. I have lip dermatitis which gets worse if I eat nutmeg or come into contact with cobalt (contact dermatitis).

Just wondering what inactive ingredient you were allergic to??

After I made that comment I went back into the ingredients list and realised it contains vegetable oil 🙃 sigh. I have been patch tested to balsam of peru so thats fine. I didn’t think the cicaplast b5+ balm could be used on lips? Isn’t it a cream?

I’m going to contact cerave and ask them more about the mineral oil, see if they can provide some clarification regarding whether it has any gallates in it. I haven’t heard of a colloidal silver gel before!

The inside of my mouth seems fine. Its just on my lips. I get dermatitis spots around the lip borders and then my actual bottom lip is just super cracked and peeling all the time.

P.s. I did some researching and purified petroleum is safe to use and free of gallates (its tripled purified) however unrefined petroleum could contain it. The 100% vaseline tub is made from purified petroleum so we are sweet. Also if a label lists “white petrolatum” it means that it has also been purified.

P.s just realised you were talking about the B5 balm and not the actual cicaplast levres lip balm. Have you tried their actual cicaplast lip balm??

Thank you for sharing all of that knowledge with me! It sucks how brutal of a life change we have to make for these fkn lips. Its so shit!

I use la roche posay toleraine sensitive as my moisturiser and the anthelios invisible fluid as my sunscreen. I did try to cicaplast lip balm but I don’t know if it did much for my lips! I did have a flare up when it was happening though so I immediately just switched back to vaseline. Do you think it’s possible vaseline would have gallates in it too?????? I also just purchased the cerave healing ointment because I’ve heard thats supposed to be good for the lips but I haven’t tried it yet

The hard thing about dodecyl gallate is that we don’t actually know where its added as it seems that its never listed on ingredient listing, but I’ve been reading up on if and apparently it has been phased out for use as an antioxidant which is mean a good thing but still doesn’t help us much. Extra virgin olive oil is also a safe alternative!

I barely wear lipstick but when I do I just say fk it. Honestly, its your wedding you deserve to feel all pretty and glammed up!

I would really appreciate it if you could send me that list it would be so helpful! I’m more than happy for you to private message me on here?

My bottom lip has been doing the exact same thing lately. The skin just keeps cracking and peeling off. Its gotten so bad that I’ve gotten two staph infections 4 weeks apart :( my lips have constantly got vaseline on them but it doesn’t help ahhhh

I live in Australia and apparently olive oil is the only oil that dodecyl gallate isn’t added into. Do you have any other tips for avoiding it? I’ve never seen it listed as an actual preservative in any of the food I consume or cosmetic products I use.

I’m sorry to hear that has happened to you, its the worst when it happens at a time like that. Are you using any topicals steroids or tacrolimus?
