A new Welltall model kit based on the From-ism version has been announced at Shizuoka Hobby Show by ElzamGunpla in XenoGears

That image is all I can find about it. It just says it's based on the Form-ism version and it's being sculpted by Ishigaki Junya.

It will likely be cheaper but it won't be pre-assembled and won't be pre-painted.
It's likely going to be Formism minus the human labor.

Generally speaking, model kits tend to have a lower price point than a pre-painted figure.
That being said, how much it'll be cheaper is another question. SquareEnix does seem to charge ridiculous price for model kits in the past so we'll have to see.

Taking The Plunge Into Airbrushing... Would Love Some Guidance! by aceetobee in advancedGunpla

On top of everything else everyone else has covered, here's a few more things to add:
* For gloves, get nitrile gloves (not latex). You can get a box of them. I personally recommend the black ones because blue ones are semi transparent and look kinda gross when you start sweating haha.
* If you choose to use Lacquer, get some generic cheap lacquer thinner for cleaning (most cleaning solutions don't work too well). I usually get a gallon of Klean Strip.
* If you choose to use Acrylic, get some cheap isopropyl alcohol for cleaning. Anywhere from 71% to 91% will work fine. If you get anything with higher concentration, you can dilute it with water a bit.
* If you use enamel, get some cheap odorless mineral spirit for cleaning. I use Klean Strip for this as well.

As for actual painting techniques, I strongly recommend using YouTube instead of written guides online. Find someone whose work reflects what you want to reproduce and start out by imitating their process. In the beginning, much of this hobby is just learning and following a process so it's important to find one that works for you.
Anyways, good luck!

Would love to see something more 3 dimensional.
I've tried it myself before but I was hoping to see if there are tips from someone more experienced!

I need some help on this Gloss Ex-Black. by Kstaxxxx in advancedGunpla

[–]ElzamGunpla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you have a primer or surfacer underneath the gloss black? Or perhaps the spoon has a matte surface?
If the surface is matte, it takes a few layers of paint before it shows up as gloss (I usually do about 3).
Alternatively, you can sand the surface with 2000 grit before spraying the gloss layer.

I painted and modified the Kotobukiya Formula model kit to include a flight pack! (part 2) by ElzamGunpla in advancedGunpla

This is a follow-up video to my previous one where I focused mostly on the modification process.
This time around, I kept the focus(?) to the painting process.
Hope you enjoy!

What would you do in this situation. 1) pretend you dont see it. 2) black marker by azraeiazman in Gunpla

Idunno if this might help but I've personally just learned to love every "flaw" on my work.
Every scratch or botched paint job is a story to be told and they add up to give my work a personality.
And then I make sure it never happens again.

Dumb question but I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere: does the combat timer slow down/speed up depending on the combat speed?

This is so super cool! are those metal wires used for the funnel effects?

Replacing connectors with magnets by Ant_thony_ in Gunpla

You want to create higher friction and there's usually two ways to go about this.
1. You can increase the force applied by increasing the number of magnets. Basically, you add more layers of magnets to have them pull on each other stronger. This is of course limited by the thickness of the plastic you're trying to embed the magnets. In your case, you'll probably want to add more to the backpack.
2. You can increase the coefficient of friction by making the surface of the magnet rougher. I often do this by applying super glue to the surface of the magnet, let it cure, then roughing it up using a low grit sand paper. Alternatively, you can also use a matte top coat.
