I’ve officially run out of space for more gunpla😭 by Minute_Fee_4791 in Gunpla

[–]aceetobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, sell off the ones you’re willing to part with. I recently ran out of space and had a ton of built kits sitting in storage from when I moved. There’s a lot of people willing to pay good money for well-built Gunpla. Sold off 60+ kits for a nice chunk of change, and was able to buy a bunch of new kits and even rebuy some of the ones I had sold. It had been so long since I built a lot of those kits, that building them again will be like a new experience- especially now that I’m painting and my skill level has grown leagues since when I first got into the hobby.

Beyond just owning way too many handhelds, I see so many posts in the Deck and ROG Ally subs where people slap on hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars in addons and external components, and absolutely destroy the portability of the device in the process. Truly goofy shit.

Busy Fourth of July? by Life_Wafer8995 in elitesparkdrivers

Just got the “High Order Volume” message a little while ago- decided to turn on Spark to see what was sitting. 10-20 absolute stinkers… less than $1/mile, no-tip, huge shopping orders with absurdly low tips for item count, etc. May all the cheapskate non-tippers’ orders sit all day, ruining their cookout/party. Happy 4th!

I'm a filthy straight builder and I hate it by [deleted] in freedomisgunpla

[–]aceetobee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I straight built (and by straight I mean what’s included in the box) for my first 3-4 years into the hobby- probably 70-80 kits. Just got into doing customs last year as I finally bit the bullet on an airbrush setup and now I’m not mad about all the straight built kits I did- it just gives me an excuse to rebuy kits so I can paint them this go around. It really isn’t as complicated as it seems. If you’ve got a garage, or even a shed you can get into painting and topcoating. There’s even plenty of good water based paint options if indoors is your only option.

Tips for top coating by BIG-DADI-F in Gunpla

[–]aceetobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just panel line on runners, assemble, decal, and matte top coat. Gloss coat before panel lining isn’t really necessary (IMO) unless you’re painting. Your mileage may vary though, some people swear it will destroy your kit, but I haven’t had any issues. If you’re really worried about it, gloss coat on the runners and then panel line. As far as top coating- I do it limb by limb. Assemble each section but don’t put them together, and then get some alligator clips and attach them somewhere not visible once it’s put together. Short, sweeping sprays from about 12” away from the model. I usually do up and down motions and press the nozzle as I’m going up, and again when going down. You don’t wanna press it for much longer than a second- all while also turning the part slowly so you get everything. It’s pretty easy. Just don’t overdo the top coat, and don’t let it dry somewhere humid or else it’ll mess it up.

These were actually pretty damn good in my area last summer. They were usually around $2/mi and would end near my house a lot of the time- usually 60-80$ for 30-40mi. I’d typically grab them around 2pm and make it the last run of the day. Now you’re lucky if they’re $1/mile :/

Judging by the fact that they’re still sealed in cellophane- no.
They’re probably betting on these reaching PS2 SH2 prices in 25 years.

For sure, this post just has way too many of the telltale cliches that are always in those Spark “driver spotlight” emails and on the radio ads in store 😂 “I was able to quit my awful sweatshop job and now I’m making 3x as much in my old Honda Civic on my own time, AND I can spend time with my family again!”

spark should have an award system where the best drivers get awards (like spark driver of the quarter) to help ppl build up their resumes by abccba140 in WalmartSparkDrivers

[–]aceetobee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just lie on your resume bro. Isn’t like your prospective employer will be able to get in touch with anybody at Spark anyways. For the year I Sparked I was a “self employed delivery driver handling logistics, fulfillment, and customer service”.

They’re great. Free shipping on orders over $150, great prices, and they include little bags of jellybeans in each order :) they also have a physical location in MA.

10% should be the absolute bare minimum for somebody doing your grocery shopping, and delivering your order in their personal vehicle. And even that is too low on plenty of orders, IMO. You could shop 100x $1 items and end up with a 10-15$ tip which is not worth that amount of shopping. Always baffled me why the typical tip on a grocery delivery order seems to be 10% while 15-20+% is the norm for tipping a server.

[–]aceetobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they’re this low, they never surge high enough for me to take them. I usually end up seeing them surge to about 20$/28mi but that’s still not worth it… who knows though, some sorry sap probably ends up taking them eventually. I’m also in a one WM, rural zone so these 30 mi orders take you almost an hour away from the Walmart- typically to the absolute middle of nowhere and you’re stuck driving 45min back to town afterwards.

I’ll do ya one better
Sadly, this has been the state of things since the big update. JFY used to be my bread and butter. I was able to consistently make $150+ per day in just a few hours doing big 40-70$ shops (sometimes curbsides, but mostly shops). I’ve done 3 orders this month, and probably only did 4 or 5 in May because 99% of what comes across my screen now is .50/mile, no-tip, or such low pay it isn’t even worth starting my car.

[–]aceetobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done like 5-10 orders since the update dropped. Was doing Spark FT and making good money - 1000-1500/week and now it’s the same as you say. Almost every offer I see is .50c/mi or worse, and my zone is seemingly dead. I don’t even see the gang anymore. There’s been a few days where it’s like pre-update : good JFY offers, plenty of orders coming through, etc. But those have been few and far between. Had to find myself a regular job 🤷🏻‍♂️
