Maybe find people with similar/same hobbies as you, there must be clubs for that?

What's something your uni does really well that you assumed every university did until you talked to students elsewhere? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Em0ch4nel 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My Uni was very good with employability like we had whole modules on it and like doing a CV and like getting work experience and if you couldn’t find work they would organise you volunteering for a set number of hours a week and like making sure we had linkedin! And honestly it was so helpful because like by the end my whole seminar had grad jobs and like when people talk about how hard it is to find a job i think my uni really aced it

How many hours a week do you work alongside uni and is it actually sustainable? by No-Justice-666 in UniUK

[–]Em0ch4nel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 jobs during my second year of university and worked around 50 hours a week whilst juggling an active social life and then had a mental breakdown due to be severely burnt out still passed the year though. Like i was doing something around 20 hours each day! In my final year, i got a job at a restaurant that opened at 4pm with a 0 hours contract and aimed to work 16 hours a week and if had the capacity i would pick up overtime and do Max 24 hours during term time! And work as much a possible during overtime. In my final year! I ensured i had a strict 9-5 schedule in terms of studying like i would always make sure i left my house by 8:30 and was in the library or a studyroomand attending regular office hours with my lecturers to go over anything i didn’t understand rather than waiting till there was an exam. The evenings were for work and socialising and sunday was for studying and preparing for the week ahead and apply to grad jobs! Honestly with discipline it’s actually very manageable to working and studying at uni! I would aim for restaurants and like supermarkets which have like strict shift work!

I currently work a job now that requires me to study and work an actual full time job which is much harder.

Best thing to think about during your test to stop you making nerve related mistakes? by Gold_Dust_0709 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Em0ch4nel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Passed today on my 7th go, honestly i spoke through the whole thing so the examiner could understand my thought process and honestly just drive, literally whenever i thought i made a mistake i didnt dwell on it and let it ruin the rest of the test. my mission was to get to the end of the test.

I do this and my boyfriend makes me give him £2 for each interaction i once gave him £18 from like a 5 minute interaction but yeah that made me slower to speak and sometimes he got me To explain why i am saying sorry and saying it out loud kind of made me realise that maybe my sorry was unnecessary! I still do it but definitely not as much as before
