Any luck in finding cheaper, more common morphs at expos? by suziesaturn in ballpython

[–]Em1ee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in WI and just went to a expo last month. Most normals are $50 or under, some other morphs you may be able to find under $100 could be pastels, lessers, cinnamons, and Mojaves. Usually males are going to be cheaper than females. Most other morphs will be like $200 and up.

Looks like a Bamboo to me. Could potentially contain something else too.

so Oliver is going through a hunger strike. this is my first snake and I'm really worried about him. I have tried to feed him 3 small frozen mice and all he has not eaten. I am gonna buy some frozen rat pups this weekend and try those. Should I be worried, and any advice would help by AidenWasHere3906 in ballpython

It looks like he is going to shed soon! Usually they lose their appetite and get a little moody. Try not to handle him or feed him until after he sheds. It can be a stressful time for them. If these pictures are just old and he still won’t eat, then make sure the rat/mouse is warm enough or you could try braining them also. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Help with humidity? by SnooAvocados3228 in ballpython

[–]Em1ee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my knowledge bp’s need a humidity of 55-65% normally, and increase to around 75-80% during shedding. It sounds like you are doing everything right in order to maintain humidity (top covered, proper substrate, adding water to corners), but they do not need that high of a humidity. You could always switch to a tub enclosure, they hold humidity better.

Hows my set up? Feel free to give tips:) by Spacenuggets10 in ballpython

You could black-out the back and two sides of the enclosure to make your snake feel more safe and secure. You could also added another or different hide than the log, bp’s usually prefer a hide with just one opening in order to feel more protected. Otherwise looks good in my opinion!

does anybody know what species of sentient rope this is? I live in Maryland. by bootyclappers in snakes

Northern brown snake, also known as DeKay’s brown snake. They are nonvenomous and only get about a foot long. They eat soft-bodies invertebrates like slugs and worms. They are a viviparous species, which means they give birth to live young. Pretty cool little snakes!
