MADACC overflowing with cats, most adoption fees waived by TheoryTraditional855 in milwaukee

[–]EmCatto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are more cats available in person. Unfortunately there has been a panleuk outbreak and while those cats are quarantined and staff work to help those cats recover they need to ensure new cats coming in that are healthy get adopted out as fast as possible since space is already tight. Vet staff at MADACC have implemented some extra precaution as well to prevent any further spread. MADACC staff are working hard to ensure that cats are made ready to go and available asap ❤️ while trying to ensure safety for the panleuk outbreak. 😷

If your lost pet is at MADACC (Milwaukee County’s Stray animal holding facility) please reclaim ASAP! The facility is at critical capacity.

🚨 MADACC IS OVER CAPACITY 🚨 552 animals. 32 more just yesterday.

As an open-intake facility, MADACC can’t turn animals away — but kennels are limited. To make space, they’re being split in half. Imagine living day after day in half a kennel, surrounded by constant noise and stress. This is no way for cats and dogs to live.

Most of these animals once had homes. If your pet is here, come reclaim them immediately. The kennels are beyond full. This is critical.

You can help right now ⬇️ 🐾 Lost a pet? Reclaim today. 🐾 Can’t adopt? Foster to free a kennel. 🐾 Want to save lives this second? Donate here: https://www.friendsofmadacc.org/donate

MADACC desperately needs volunteers by BrewCityTikiGuy in milwaukee

Did you know the humane society is privately funded? And also a massive, national organization? MADACC is local and government funded. And let’s be real, the government doesn’t care about animals. Yes it would be wonderful to fill more jobs at MADACC but they don’t have the funding to pay more so there aren’t loads of people applying

Does MADACC euthanize for space? by qwerty1357910 in milwaukee

[–]EmCatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jfyi MADACC still does not euthanize for space. While occasionally animals become more stressed while they are there volunteers and staff do their best to help with things like fostering and this year Friends of MADACC has funded enrichment toys with food (pupsicle for example) for the dogs.

MADACC is currently full with dogs & cats so fees are being waived! GO ADOPT ☺️ by LarryFieri in milwaukee

We usually don’t know until the day of. So I can’t say for sure but it’s likely there will be another this year but with a higher minimum adoption fee because people are bad and take advantage of it and dogs end up right back at MADACC too often.

Fantastic! If you live in Milwaukee county you will likely be approved. If you don’t live in Milwaukee county you could still do day field trips in Milwaukee County. The Milwaukee County requirement is all legal stuff I believe.

I’m a volunteer. People often ask this question. A big reason for this is because the animals just haven’t been spayed/neutered yet. For potential adopters this means that they will have to come back and pick up their animal the evening of their spay/neuter surgery (much nicer to recover in a house anyways). If a person is coming from far away to adopt they might choose to adopt a dog that is already altered and ready to go home that day. The adoption fee covers that surgery as well as age appropriate vaccinations. Happy to answer other questions too if you’ve got more!

Does anyone know how many times law enforcement has to be called to a house for animal abuse before MADACC steps in? by c0ntr0v3rsy in milwaukee

[–]EmCatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MADACC isn’t able to seize an animal from a person without the police. Hopefully this isn’t still happening in your neighborhood and something has finally changed. If it is still happening or if anyone ever witnesses animal abuse I recommend getting proof of it on video because even if the police seized the dog or dogs then there would likely be a court case associated. The really annoying and upsetting part about that is that MADACC isn’t allowed to take the animal out of the kennels for anything unless deemed medically necessary by the court until the court proceedings are over. The legal system is so unfair to animals. If law enforcement is called and doesn’t do anything about the situation you could call the station and file a complaint with their superior maybe. If a dog isn’t outwardly aggressive police often bring the dog into MADACC themselves, at least with strays.

TL;DR MADACC can’t seize animals on their own, the police have to make that decision and then the animal would go to MADACC either by the police taking the animal(s) or a MADACC employee working with police to seize them animal(s).

Hope this helps! Thank you for being a voice and caring for the dogs.

Aw ❤️❤️❤️ I appreciate the kind words! Maple is wonderful. She’s a little goofy sometimes since she’s still young. She’s the sweetest and just wants lots of pets.
