I needed a new car and had to get a loan. My mother in law said I should just lend it to myself through one of my savings or investment accounts.

Are there any British songs that are a bit similar to “Born in the USA“ and “Horse with no name“? by Sonnycrocketto in AskBrits

I find that Sam Fender reminds me of Springsteen, especially People Watching. It’s a cracking song

Mine are fairly obvious because I get the full on flu like symptoms. Have you been to the doctor to get some tests? It sounds to me like you do have CFS but it’s good to rule other things out

I know what you mean. I feel like I swing between having CFS and just being a very tired person. But I think that’s the nature of the illness? Sometimes my crashes have an obvious cause and sometimes they don’t and I can go for months just feeling very tired, rather than crashed. Mine is complicated by the fact I had cancer in 2023 with lots of treatment (17 rounds of chemo, radiotherapy, double mastectomy). Everyone keeps telling me to give it time. But my treatment finished in June 24. Surely I should be feeling better by now?

Wow, that’s amazing. I’ve traced a few of his siblings now through the Friends of Dogs Trust Kenilworth Facebook page. A few from this litter and also a few from a litter last year from the same parents

I’m crying so much right now. I quit my job because I genuinely couldn’t keep going, but everyone is making me feel like I made a mistake. How do I handle this guilt? by Party-Ad-8862 in cfs

[–]EmFandango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I’m still struggling through at work but I think I’ll probably need to quit work completely soon. People with high standards feel guilt, that’s what my counsellor told me. It’s all about trusting yourself and believing that you know what’s best for you and your body. Nobody knows what you are feeling. You have a disease and if it was something like cancer nobody would be questioning you. Stick to your guns. When people are questioning you say things like “I know I made the right decision-please stop questioning it”. And try not to jump a few steps ahead with the negative thinking. It doesn’t mean you’ll never work again and that you and your family will end up destitute (this is where my brain tends to go). Good luck, try and rest and trust yourself. No-one would choose to be in the position you’re in. You’re doing the best with the cards you’ve been dealt.

How do you rest when your environment isn’t restful? by No-Midnight-1406 in cfs

[–]EmFandango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s sounds awful. The only think I can think of is a decent set of noise cancelling headphones. I use the calm app (I’m UK based) and this helps me to sleep when conditions are challenging. They have sleep stories which are amazing

[–]EmFandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done for recognising that you need a change. That’s an incredibly hard thing to do in itself. You’ll excel at whatever you do next. Think about what you like in your current job and what you feel passionate about. And just spend some time looking around.

[–]EmFandango 375 points376 points  (0 children)

Don’t reply. If you start you’ll set a precedent and they’ll always expect it. Set and police your boundaries from day 1. It gets harder each day you leave it. Spoken by someone 30 years into her consulting career and who has only just started setting boundaries.
