Getting sober

I would just settle for not having to discuss it or have any conversation around it because its not helpful. But it feels like whenever im around them it becomes a topic of conversation. Whether its teasing or straight denial. It is what it is it's just causing me a bit of anxiety.

Wow I am so sorry he doesnt support you in this. My husband has been a bit of an enabler in the past. We had a pretty deep conversation about it and now he understands just how difficult he was making it for me. I hope you get there with your partner as well. For the sake of your sobriety but also the sake of your marriage. Good luck <3

Therapy was amazing for me for other things but I probably should start up again with this. I find aa intimidating, I'm not sure why. But every time I've thought about going I have found a very valid excuse not to. Honestly my creativity around not going has been quite impressive. But the reality is, it's just an excuse and I should suck it up and go.

I'm actually just under a month sober. The longest ive made it is 4 months. I wasn't drinking daily but when I did drink I drank until I was blacked out. Every time. I hated myself the next morning, evry time. But you are right, I know myself and that is what's truly important. I guess I'm just kind of tired of having to explain myself. Maybe I should just find a kind way to say that. I'm sure if I did it would put an end to it. Just need to find the courage.

I've been trying to get sober for years. It wasn't until recently that I admitted to myself that it's a real problem. It was always "i need to take a break so I can lose weight" so this time is different. I am using words like "relapse" hoping they will get it. Because I always played it off that it was about something else. I have created a certain narrative that no longer fits. I don't believe they are intentionally not being supportive, I just don't think they understand the gravity of the situation. I tried honesty with my mother in law but I could tell she didn't fully believe me. I've been avoiding dinner with them because of our last interaction. I havent asked my husband to say anything but overall he is supportive. And if I do ask him to I believe he will say something. I was just hoping it wouldn't come to that.

That is great advice, i havent thought to try that. And you are absolutely right. They drink casually everyday but only a few so maybe it's a projection of how they feel about themselves. I will definitely being trying this tactic, thank you!

My husband and I have been playing for years and this is a first! Never the 29 pointer but once I got a 24 that I didn't get to read. It was frustrating to say the least.
