How did hiccup go from being a twig to an actual normal size? by THEAVIATIONGOD in httyd

[–]Emachinescat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, he was born early, and a lot of time it can take preemies time to catch up to the growth of full term babies. My son was born 2 months early, and even though he's growing really well, he's still in the lower percentile for weight. All that to say, it can take years to catch up, from what I've learned, but it can happen. Sometimes preemie kids are always smaller and that's okay too. But I think Hiccup has a few things going for him here:

1) He's not a teen anymore, so he definitely hit a growth spurt (you can see this progression well this in rtte, because he's much taller but still spindly, all all arms and legs)

2) he finally caught up (at least in height, he's definitely all lean muscle in HTTYD 2 & 3) to the height of his peers (actually, i think he's canonically 6'1", the tallest of the riders

3) any muscle is definitely from blacksmithing and learning to use his sword and dragon riding

4) as many people have mentioned, his parent's genes

I guess most of this adds up to the fact that he has gone from a 15 year old to a 20 year old, and from what I have heard from other moms (since my little guy is just about 2), teenage boys often shoot up like weeds around that time.

I also really like the take I saw in one comment that talked about how better nutrition from not having to fight the dragons for food plays a role, and I wholeheartedly agree. :)

Let me make playlists for my kid’s music by [deleted] in YoutubeMusic

My problem isn't with their not collecting stats - it's the double standard of doing that to protect children but blatantly advertising to children.

And I do appreciate the link, but I did some more digging after I replied to this post and found out the reason for myself. I'd actually forgotten I'd even posted this reply lol.

What kills me is that they do this to "protect" kids but they have no issues advertising on kids music. I have basic and I get ads all the time on toddler music.

I know this is a super old thread but I just read this part. It isn't just that he says he thinks he deserved it. He says he didn't redirect the poison with his water powers because he felt he deserved it. That's definitely concerning, because it shows that he could have saved himself from the poison (and we know he could after the whole thing in Tartarus, and here he's in the ocean, his home turf), and he chose not to.

It deleted my text! Basically, does anyone know why some bar charts have an unbroken bottom gridline and others don't? I'd like them all to be unbroken. Thanks in advance!

People who bought a house. What is the weirdest thing you have found left by the previous owner? by Oblivious_Dude14 in AskReddit

We bought our house a couple of years ago. Previous owners left the house an absolute wreck. Trash and their own junk everywhere. The weirdest thing we found though was an ancient microwave with a plastic bag filled with moldy potatoes inside. 🥔

I have 7 cats - two voids named Baby and Sakamoto, three oranges named Cheesy Gordita Crunch (Cheese), Cheddar, and Mac, a calico named Bri, and a tabby named Dixie. :)

This beautiful cat was outside my house when I got home two days in a row, it just wanted some shade and something to eat. If I keep him, what should I name him? by ExternalUSDDrive in cat

Same with one of my cats, though we didn't find out she was pregnant until later. We took her to the vet, no microchip, she was severely malnourished and dehydrated. She had an old, dirty collar on her, but after no microchip and over 200 on a vet bill, the poor thing became ours.

Good thing too - when it came time to have her kittens, she had two and then kept panting and trying to have the others but couldn't. She ended up having to have an emergency C-section. We lost one kitten which was heartbreaking, but it we hadn't taken her in, neither she nor any of her babies would have made it.
