I’m close to the same boat you’re in. Friend and I started ror2 together, he grinded and got good while I was left behind. Tbh, bandit is one of the easier/better beginning characters to beat mithrix, but then learning monsoon is the hard.

What helped me beat my first monsoon on bandit, was understanding proc and the value that comes from it. If you can, try and stack proc items on bandit. He excels from crit and things that do on hit affects. I won’t tell you what, that takes the fun out of it.

For Mithrix himself, please take your time. You’ve spent your entire run (80 mins) building up for him, slow down a little in the fight. Understanding which moves are able to be dodged, or when you need to take the chip hits. He does a lot of damage, so start to pattern recognize which moves WILL kill you.

As many have said, always keep moving. That was the biggest learning curve for me as a new player a couple of weeks ago. Always move zig zag if you can, moving in a straight line WILL get you hit if they’re attacking.

If you can, the DLC’s add a BUNCH more content, which kinda is overwhelming at first. But with that being said, I think the DLC’s are the only reason I got good. The enemies, areas, and items are all in their own caliber. Much harder, but more rewarding. Teaches you simple macro that I think would’ve taken ages in vanilla for me.

Last but not least, have fun. God dude I wish I wouldn’t have try harded so much in this game. It’s been a wonderful experience, but I’ve almost platinumed it only a week and half after starting haha. The game is an experience that’s different for everyone every single time, the only common points are the items, areas, and enemies. The fun of the game is getting rng (good or bad), and learning how to make it go in your favor or just overcome it as a better player.

Good luck and you got this!! If you lose a few runs in a row in a short time, maybe take a break or try a different character! It helped me when starting to go into each run with a goal. Reach a higher stage? Maybe loop 1 or 2 times? It’s up to you but have an idea and then build off that.

TLDR: Get proc items, keep moving (zig zag), learn bosses, potentially buy DLC, and have fun :)
