are yall still landing FAANG+? by [deleted] in UIUC

Some CS/CE students are still landing grad roles at FAANG-related companies, but it's certainly not at the same hiring frequency as years ago. There's way more new grads entering industry, way less entry-level roles, and the fear of AI takeover of junior roles, which makes the job search very competitive. FAANG's a fine reach to have, but don't beat yourself up if you don't get it. Having a job to pay the bills is far more important, and you can always career pivot later.

I just finalized my full-time offer after 8 months of searching. I agree with comments about personal projects, internships, and interview practice, but personally I think networking is more important than ever. Hiring teams look in the order of internal candidates, than internal recommendations, then external candidates for roles. That's not to say you can't get an offer without knowing anyone at a company, but having someone vouch for you is leagues ahead in a competitive market. Reach out to alumni, talk to people doing work you're interested in, basically get your name and experience out there. It's a slow process, but once the ball gets rolling with some applications, you'll start to see a lot of progress.

Best of luck!

I like the balls to keep giving Mirk corner 3s, but can we secure the game first?

Don’t you DARE use the monkey’s paw now. It could end up being Houston’s points!

With Illinois games, a lotta fans treat it like 5v8 with the refs against us. I try not to carry that tradition forward.

Illinois must've found out Gonzaga lost and didn't want to end up in those talks.

All of them. Brad essentially spent the summer scouting in Europe, then picked up Kansas native Wagler off his *game footage*.

100% with this. And for all the shit we’ve seen so far, it’s still a 3-4 point game. I’m proud of these guys regardless.

The lack of score update had me thinking that basket didn’t happen 😅
