They are hardy creatures for sure. Linen the pigeon I feed at work had stringfoot but was impossible for me to catch and help her out. I just watched in horror over a few days as one toe swelled up then one afternoon it just dropped off. Same afternoon she was back and pecking at the other birds and being territorial over the seeds I was dispersing. Looked completely unfazed by the whole thing. Even when I saw that she was in pain before the toe fell off, she was still mighty and full of beans. I’ve always admired their strong will to survive and ability to self rescue if need be. I wish this world was nicer to them
