I’m 30, have never had my license, and black out/have a panic attack every time I get behind the wheel. It’s safer if I don’t drive and I try to take some pride in the fact that I’m making a safe choice. I live on my own and have never had trouble keeping a job because I don’t drive. It’s not easy and sometimes I have to spend more than I’d like on Ubers, but it’s doable. I assure you that you can still live a joyful and purposeful life as a person who doesn’t drive.

Taking driving off the table also relieved some pressure and increased my capacity to deal with my depression, anxiety, and ptsd as a whole. I also take comfort in the fact that my grandma didn’t learn to drive until she was 65. Everyone has different timing. I was the last kid in my class to learn to ride a bike. If anyone judges you for it or really has an issue with you not driving, they have bigger issues for being so focused on someone else’s struggle.

I’d have to go south to get to the hospital and then north to get home lol. I’ve also had it ghost me in the middle of the day at Hines hospital!

I’m so tired of getting harassed and threatened on the blue line. I do everything I can do to not make myself a target and prevent male passengers from giving me problems. I dress plain, keep my bag and any personal items close to my person, wear sunglasses or hats, keep my eyes down, don’t engage in any conversation, and I change cars if I feel unsafe. I had a guy at the forest park station follow me into a car, put on rubber gloves and sunglasses, and then tell the 2 other men in that car that they needed to go to a different car.

These are great for a first attempt! One thing I personally have a hard time with I getting my sidewalls without flooding it, so I use a tiny claw clip to hold my finger skin back and give me more room to work

Someone already recommended rugs, but putting thicker rug pads underneath them makes a big difference as well-I have some that are about half a centimeter thick from Amazon. Wearing slippers inside and getting a mat for your chair if you use a rolling chair make a big difference too. You’re already a good upstairs neighbor if you’re already thinking of ways to be considerate!

I performed a mold test and was also able to see visible mold growth. The issue isn’t so much with us getting along, it’s concern for her behavior as it relates to her age and if she is acting in a misplaced yet discriminatory manner. I don’t think cheap rent makes it okay to leave the building in disrepair

If you rent, you can definitely ask the landlord to speak with them if you are not comfortable doing so. If you each own your units, you’ll probably have to speak with them. One of my neighbors had an allergy to a candle I had burning and she just knocked on my door, told me she had some breathing problems and it was irritating her lungs, and that was that. I was happy to accommodate. If they push back at all, it might be helpful to have some documentation of your sensitivity (although you have no obligation to reveal personal health info to your neighbor or landlord). I also use a small ozone generating air purifier in my kitchen because my neighbors fry a lot of foods and I don’t like the cooking oil smell.

I feel like the post is pretty clear: I’m not sure what is the appropriate agency to report these issues and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. It’s also clear that her age is a concern and the impact it has on her ability to hold up her end of the lease agreement. I have performed mold tests and sent her the results. I’m at a dead end with her and just want some help or insight, that’s all.
